she looks hideous in this outfit....it's called trying too hard. the same outfit would've been better on someone younger

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (8:42 AM) :

Love the grey tights. They perfectly accent her shoes, ensuring you don't miss the ankle detail.

Blogger Abigail A. Percy said ... (8:42 AM) :

Beautiful dress...the opaque grey tights just make the look too, and contrast really well with the skin on show at her neck. Lovely!

Blogger Rafe Totengco said ... (8:59 AM) :

The print dress, the grey tights, the Chloe platforms, the white hand held bag...perfection! I've been seeing quite a lot of trapeze dresses on and off the runway. White ( for accessories) seem to ben an all year round color now. Gotta love that.

Cool dress, but the best part is the expression. That is most stereotypical British expression -- classic! Hillarious.

Now watch, you'll tell me she's not British and I'll be embarrassed.

Oh well.

Who is the woman in the last picture you posted on style.com at alberta ferreti? I saw her all over at NYFW and have been trying to figure out who she is...

Blogger in defense of retail therapy said ... (12:13 PM) :

hooray for grey tights!

Blogger abovo99 said ... (12:50 PM) :

I love the color combination of gray, black & white. She looks classic and gorgeous. She even proves that any woman can be sexy with right clothes at any age and any size. I love her posture. Strong and confident but not proud. Love it...Love it.

Blogger Claire said ... (2:05 PM) :

why does fashion love putting open toed shoes on skinny women wearing tights? yet we all know it's a horrible faux pas to wear stockings with sandals. So confusing. Neat pattern on her dress though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:33 PM) :

ahh, grey tights, yes! beautiful op-art trapeze dress, perfect white handbag, so good!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:01 PM) :

I get the distinct feeling grey tights will be one of those things that'll make us cringe in hindsight this time next year.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:08 PM) :

But since we're adjusting our fickle fashion consciousness to adapt to them this winter, I have to say grey tights work better when worn with white, cream, beige, tan or brown platforms & especially with shoeboots.

Blogger whyioughtta said ... (5:49 PM) :

Grey tights are so awesome.

On the subject of open-toed shoes: I've noticed there are lots of them in stores this fall. This FALL. How do you wear open-toed shoes properly during tight/hose season?? Is she doing the right thing with the tights/toes combo?? I'm not usually this unsure, but the whole thing presents a terrible dilemma...I have toe stress...

i wish the dress had more shape. i love it when outfits are conscience of a woman's figure. i believe they're more flattering.

colors are fabulously pulled together and balanced.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:43 PM) :

I just need that shoes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:04 AM) :

Bwah! I am English and it takes special training not to make the cute rumple face in photos. Like, ohh I'm not that cute oooh. She's cute though! However I still have the urge to belt the dress. Maybe I'm just a stick in the mud...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:25 AM) :

i think tights with sandals look so cute! why do we care what the "right" thing to do is? when it's well-thought out and executed, anything can work and look good. it's about personal style, not rules from up high.

Blogger Laurence John said ... (11:24 AM) :

i like the grey opaque tights but i wouldn't pair them with more grey. i think they'd work better with a strong green for instance.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:22 PM) :

I love this. You would think the grey tights would match too much but they're just perfect. And the open toed shoe make it young & fresh.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:51 PM) :

I am glad to see that many others like opaque tights as much as I do - when I asked for them at Wolford last year the saleswoman (who I think was actually a manager from another store) was such a frosty b*tch about it! She told me they were only suitable for "Vermont, or something"!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:04 PM) :

i agree that the dress would look nice belted, though i like this way, as well. i love that white handbags are available more now. the grey tights are wonderful - i think that grey goes with everything, and such areassuring and cozy colour - but i live in a very rainy city, so perhaps i have a predilection for soft colors. the tights with sandals look works if the toe is not too open - this is perfect. as for the sandals/tights look for the winter - that's cab-only attire.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:56 PM) :

I just wanted to add that I feel this dress is too long to be so shapeless. Trapezoidal shaped dresses work better when they're quite short on the body.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:50 AM) :

Tights with sandals has been done for a few years now; if you live in New York, it's the only way you can brave the ridiculous winters while looking hot. I love contrast - opaque black tights with a lighter shoe (pref. a lowerish heel).

The dress is great. The tights are great. My problem is with that Chloe(ish) shoe. Much too much; if you're going to wear anything fairly shapeless up top, keep the shoes as dainty as possible. Please. The perfect proportion would involve a pointed-toe mary-jane in some cheeky color.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:10 PM) :

those shoes are to-die-for!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:41 AM) :

Iam sat her in my grey tights with grey sude boots, thier fab. Ive had loads of comments on mine they make your legs look fab and wot a change on blk

Blogger shayna said ... (3:21 PM) :

i love the overall idea of this ensamble, but i would like a punch of color (maybe her bag) and if the dress weren't so baggy.

Blogger New Tokyo Terror said ... (6:06 AM) :

i feel inspired to buy gray tights.
