The Lacoste bag with croc also provides leavening...but not sure it's a real go....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:18 AM) :

looks pretty good- dark denims can take a bit of colour. jude law has been wearing a great pair of red/burgundy shoes recently kind of a similar look

Blogger gRief said ... (9:38 AM) :

I want those shoes!!! Did you ask what brand they are?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:44 AM) :

This is cool. I was really impressed by a version of this look, also worn by a young Japanese guy, strolling round the Guggenheim in Bilbao - plain black cropped pants, plain black T-shirt and yellow plimsolls. He had really stood back and planned himself as a walking work of art, and this guy seems to have too.

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (9:49 AM) :

If you described this look, I wouldn't be interested. But looking at the photo, it works for him. (Where do you even buy these pale pink shoes?)

Blogger Lit said ... (10:05 AM) :

Am I allowed to say that this guy looks good particularly because he's Asiatic. Or maybe it's just easier to pull of the attitude that is necessary to pull this off when you are Asiatic or maybe it has nothing to do with that, he just looks good, in a different way because he's him...

Blogger michael said ... (10:27 AM) :

he's killing it with that bag.
...and by killing it i mean making it great

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:36 AM) :

Sartorialist,

Not a trad update. How dare you!

Blogger Jan said ... (10:42 AM) :

The Lacoste bag "explains" the shoes. When you see the bag, you think, "Well, of course! Of course he has pink shoes!" I don't mean this in a negative way...I mean that the bag gives him license, it answers the riddle and, as Butch said, it provides levity.

Blogger LEeds YORkshire said ... (10:55 AM) :

loving the pink shoes. Paul Smith did a really simple pink brogue a few seasons in the same colour. it shows sartorial confidence if one can pull off this look.

Blogger Lainy said ... (11:03 AM) :

So we really say Asiatic now? Or just Asian? :)

I think the massive Lacoste logo is a riot. The whole thing looks a little clownish, though. Pink shoes or gator. Gotta choose.

Blogger Broady said ... (11:17 AM) :

Like everything but the Lacoste bag. I'm just not a fan of the oversize logo-- same goes for the huge Polo logo's these days.

But the shoes are very nice.

Anonymous Lizzy Washington said ... (11:18 AM) :

i love hwo whimsical it is .. the alligator bag and pink shoes. this man put his personality at hte forefront of his outfit while being clean, polished, adn sticking to current trneds in fashion. ---colr is always good.. adn i have noticed many korean men love pink.. i she korean? i think in Korea it isn't considered as feminine.

Blogger John and Sarah said ... (11:39 AM) :

The shoes seem to call out "Spring 2005", at least to me. That season I recall Alexander McQueen offering a pink ballet slipper for men and Comme des Garcons strucking out pink sneakers. I applaud any attempt to incorporate David Hockney-ish bold colors into a look, and to saunter around Bryant Park. Interestingly, I think the incredibly gauche bag works because of the shoes. If you're going to overbling and hyper-brand on your bag, don't hold back. Le petit alligator français is afterall a fashion icon.

Blogger Maria said ... (11:57 AM) :

So playful!
In the midst of so many serious fashion worshippers this guy might be a light breeze.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:01 PM) :

The bag was a gift from the Lacoste show.

Blogger Kristin said ... (12:16 PM) :

Mmmm, those shoes make me want to eat a pink cupcake. I LOVE them!

Blogger fiwa said ... (1:48 PM) :

I love those pink shoes. Brilliant.

Blogger Rebecca said ... (1:57 PM) :

I'd wear those shoes.

Blogger Pop Culture Diva said ... (2:08 PM) :

I love the shoes.

Blogger *The Dreamer* said ... (2:41 PM) :

I like the shoes. But overall? Dont think so.

Anonymous positively the same dame said ... (2:54 PM) :

the shoes are repettos, maybe? this man has a sweetness and sly sense of humor about him that is very appealing. on him, it all looks very natural and unforced.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:13 PM) :

Sart is right. He "took it to a new place." (the look)
I'm not sure what place it is, but it's a new place. I am not sold on it yet, but am intrigued by what else must be in his closet! We must see more.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:26 PM) :

And what does a man who wears pink shoes do for a living? Do you think someone tried to talk him out of the pink shoes that morning? Did anyone make fun of his pink shoes that day? I hope not, becuase they are fun and different and I admire his sense of fashion adventure.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:38 PM) :

Is Asiatic the new Asian? Everybody bought this tote.

Anonymous Minny said ... (4:59 PM) :

you shot a Teen Voguer with the same bag the other day, and it seemed overwhelming on her in a kind of cute way, but I like it better in this context.

Blogger sandman_gr said ... (5:42 PM) :

Burgundy is one thing, but pink? I don't know... It wouldn't suit me for sure...on him? I still got doubts...

Blogger HoolaHoops said ... (6:06 PM) :

no, the pink shoes don't work at all. ick!

Blogger Jessica said ... (8:00 PM) :

hah! i think they are great! never seen pink shoes like that before! love 'em!

Blogger Marc said ... (8:10 PM) :

Paul Smith was selling an incredible pair of pink wing tips a couple of years ago, but I haven't seen them since. A Google search will yield results for Men's Pink Shoes, but nothing as cool as the Paul Smith's...

Blogger Marc said ... (8:16 PM) :

Oh, by the way Lit, Asian is usually the preffered english term as opposed to Asiatic which some might consider offensive.

Blogger samuraibunny said ... (10:47 PM) :

asian or asiatic i don't see how it really matters. but asian is easier to pronounce ya? =P

as for the guy in the pic. cute shoes! men should wear pink more often. as for the bag ... is it authentic lacoste d'you think?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:48 PM) :

trouser waist too low

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:04 PM) :

What I really want to know is...did you wear the Ralph Lauren suit? Did Anderson Cooper wear his. Was there a showdown?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:31 PM) :

what socks do you wear with the pink shoes? (next time, they should just attach a small bag to the 'gator, instead of the other way around.)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:00 AM) :

Must agree with one of the other Anonymous' above. This is absolutely not Trad.

Blogger Lit said ... (7:49 AM) :

My apologies for my offensive use of 'Asiatic', I just thought it was the correct term to use and ended up on the other side of the fence, terribly embarrassed and thanks for correcting me.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:22 AM) :

This man, Mr. Hwang, is quite famous as a TV host and fashion PR professional.

Blogger Broady said ... (9:04 AM) :

If the tote was a *gift* from a show, that changes everything. That makes it a situational fashion statement and a status symbol.

NOW I love the bag!!!

Blogger n.rosa said ... (9:19 AM) :

the shoes are
a ma zing

Blogger EnidP said ... (4:34 PM) :

Lovely~~
He is not japanese
He is a Korean, a famous stylish guy in south Korea.
That's so cute, aren't you? ^^

Anonymous a. said ... (5:58 AM) :

LOVE it! not a fan of the bag, but clearly he didn't plan it as a part of his outfit, since it was a show gift. but other than that - it's fashion perfection.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:28 AM) :

He is a Korean!
You are so wonderful.
You are same as above man!
I'm proud of him...and
I'm very proud of being one of the
Korean.

Blogger Zaydoun said ... (10:37 AM) :

I love his jacket and that bag is hilarious. I want it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:21 PM) :

omgg what is up with people and not liking the whole bag idea.. ? it's soo cool ... I'm curious, is the bag just too much , or simply says gay across the forehead? i mean guys are able to pull off bags, we don't have to be a different sex gender to do so .. i'm loving the bag love the look very played out .. turned everything to a magnificent casual look

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:20 AM) :

Ilove he.
He is nice.
pink shoes is very good~~!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:59 AM) :

love the bag and the shoes, it shows a sense of humour, a guy who doesnt take himself nor fashion too seriously

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:58 AM) :
