Oh wow... I don't even have words to describe this one. I've faithfully browsed your site for months now but this is prompting my first comment. Amazing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:02 AM) :

very very sexyyyyyyyy gal ^ ^

this is my first message here and i like the blog very very much!!!
thanks~!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:06 AM) :

You may have answered this before, but how do they ride bikes in skirts? Very carefully?

Blogger benson said ... (2:13 AM) :

What a sweet, summer, kiss! So, so cute.

Blogger DeepBlueSea said ... (2:45 AM) :

Expect a spike in bike sales this summer, thanks to Herr Sartor (and this wonderful young woman - and others this spring...).

This natural look is just delightful! Hair, earrings, watch... her.... EVERYTHING! TODO! ALLES!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:00 AM) :

another stunner in a skirt with a bike..i'm moving to Europe toute suite

Blogger Emma said ... (3:00 AM) :

I don't think they ride the bikes at all. It's just an accessory. How else?

But, very nice. Innocent and hot. I couldn't pull that off, but I'm quite glad she does. Looks perfect.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:01 AM) :

so fresh so fresh!
yes this prompted my first comment too. woweee!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:21 AM) :

She's so pretty. Very summery look overall.
Although part of the easy look, it's unfortunate the loose dress doesn't bring out the shape of her body - as it seems she totally has the figure to show. Maybe wearing a thin belt or something would help..?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:37 AM) :

simple, breezy, cute. not breathtaking. this is what I wear in the summer. i would be wearing this right now, but it's too damn cold in seattle and i'm white as hell! oh, and as usual, love the bikes. there's no deliberate way of riding a bike in a skirt or dress. just make sure it's short enough not to get caught in anything, and go for it! who cares!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:47 AM) :

how do these women manage to wear such short dresses? do they wear shorts underneath or just cute briefs? what if a wind blows, do they just look like marilyn monroe?
I want to learn how to wear something similar and not feel uncomfortable abot showing my panties.

Blogger Flaneur said ... (4:16 AM) :

That's why I love living in Germany.
Don't miss to note the cute Gazelle bike, too.

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:25 AM) :

Good lord that is a very short skirt to be riding a bicycle. Still, maybe she just wheels it around town looking cute....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:33 AM) :

This is the ideal lady's bike. You naturally sit up straight in the saddle. No problem. Sart has shown us some lovely young women on these bikes, but just think of how straight Miss Gooch sits as she peddles along with little Toto in her basket...

KAPOW!

Words do no justice..

Bring on spring then summer - unfortunately we are moving into winter (Sydney, Australia).

Love your work!

Blogger Charles said ... (5:01 AM) :

Oh my god, she's gorgeous.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:04 AM) :

She looks like Charlize Theron with a dash of Scarlett Johansson. Very cute!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:07 AM) :

The perfect female shape: textbook gynaecoid. Bellissimo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:17 AM) :

Is she wearing shorts under that dress so she can ride her bike? Sweet and sexy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:57 AM) :

If you like dresses AND biking, you also have to like causing accidents, yours are others, depends on the lengh and volume of the skirt.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:44 AM) :

The warmth in this picture is almost tangible.

Blogger Viktorov said ... (7:51 AM) :

Summer> Haha, exactly my thought. Maybe the bicycle is more an accessory?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:57 AM) :

amazing! she is really amazing!

Blogger Christian said ... (8:17 AM) :

Can i say… terrrrrific !?

Blogger Miriam Parkman said ... (8:45 AM) :

How cute! Flowerprinted dresses and ballerinashoes is the best uniform at summer. Cute hairstyle as well!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:59 AM) :

c’est une belle jeune fille qui semble bien dans sa peau

so breezy so happy

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:02 AM) :

wow she looks gorgeous. yea i'm wondering as well, how do they ride those bikes... in order to get on it she must put her leg over the bike. doesn't she flash everyone when she's doing that?

she's still stunning!and it doesn't even look slutty because of the high neckline.

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (10:07 AM) :

So cute, so sweet, a perfect spring outfit!

Blogger Elizabeth said ... (10:20 AM) :

You're right about her; also the light behind her head lends a sweet feeling.

Blogger Just an Observation said ... (10:56 AM) :

She is so so cute ...i agree also.

love the floral pattern and the cute little flats she has on ....classic yet uptodate look for the season.

thx sar!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:11 AM) :

gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this girl just looks so happy and full of life.....she proves that style is not entirely about clothes....which is not to say that what she's wearing is ugly or unstylish---on the contrary, it's very pretty

Blogger Topham Beauclerk said ... (11:22 AM) :

It's not just the cute dress that's so great, but also the hair, the earrings, the shoes, the watch, the bike . . .

Blogger The Spicers said ... (11:28 AM) :

She's beautiful. Great lighting in the shot, too!
And I love the gold flats!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:18 PM) :

i like your blog so much, & it becomes better & better! like it so much~ muah~

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:42 PM) :

that's the most stylish bike I have ever seen. screw the dress, i want the bike!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:24 PM) :

Where's the pic with her RIDING the bike??? [cigar-wagging] Ha-cha-cha

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:39 PM) :

Ah, sundresses. Even the words Sun and Dress just go so, so well together.

Blogger Asi Mod said ... (1:56 PM) :

She looks like a vision, with the light shining on from the back. However, it is practical to ride a bicycle with a dress that short?

Sart, did you see her ride the bike?

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (2:04 PM) :

Girl of my dreams

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:17 PM) :

I love this. So sweet and simple and uncomplicated. No trying to hard to make a statement, which is a statement in itself, and comfort and function is not sacrificed for beauty or vice-versa. xo, Lady

Blogger The Sartorialist said ... (2:27 PM) :

yes, I did see her riding the bike
I completely lucked-out when she stopped just down the street.
The best part of it was that she completely knew all about The Sartorialist but she wanted some proof that i was really him so luckily I had some business cards on me

She was as sweet and nice in person as she looks in the photo.

ps I think ladies in Europe know a lot of ways to tuck dresses or skirts just right so that can ride their bikes - i remember she went by pretty fast on her bike

Blogger lucia martinez said ... (2:55 PM) :

oh my. and I love that she went with flats instead of sandals.

this has also affirmed my decision to buy a cruiser this summer and ride it all over new york.

Blogger The Curio Keeper said ... (3:05 PM) :

How summery! And I believe that her hair colour matches her shoes ^^

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:13 PM) :

Wow.

(Can't come up with other words than that...)

Blogger B.Chau said ... (4:51 PM) :

The very definition of how to be lovely as well! I am simply captured by this woman's beauty.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:11 PM) :

She's so hot. I miss that kind of girls in Switzerland

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:18 PM) :

Love the girl, love the dress, love the bike. <3

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:23 PM) :

any idea where is this dress from? xD

and the bike concept just rocks

she totally hit the look*

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:54 PM) :

I'm not sure if your doing it on purpose, but I love that you're making bikes an essential accessory. I myself am considering buying a bike, since I don't own a car. Hopefully it catches on, maybe America does have hope of being a little more environmentally-friendly nation!

The pic is very fresh and vivid! LOVE it

Blogger Carla said ... (7:06 PM) :

She's very pretty, but I must say I am sick of the tent and empire waist dress trend. They only look good on ONE body type only.

Blogger Kenley said ... (7:25 PM) :

I feel that I must chime in on the subject of how European women with skirts ride their bikes.

Bikes are made to be as comfortable as possible in Europe. If you notice the middle support bar on the bike, it is set very low. This allows the rider to lift their leg and place it on the other side with ease. There is no need for mounting the bike like a horse by swinging the leg over from the rear. Thus, no flashing of undergarments to strangers. Then, the rider will back up onto the seat. This assures that the rear of the skirt is covering the bottom. Bike seats are usually large and comfortable, so when the rider is on the bike there is still a bit of seat left poking out the front. This is where the ladies usually put their hand to make sure the skirt doesn't fly up while riding. Riding with only one hand is a crucial skill required in Europe. As an American living in the Netherlands, I can now talk on my phone, hold an umbrella and smoke while I weave through traffic on my bike.

BTW, absolutely beautiful shot.

Kenley

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:15 PM) :

What a beauty!!

Blogger Juliette Tang said ... (9:50 PM) :

this is gorgeous but...how does she ride a bike w/ a dress that short

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:51 PM) :

That is one hot frau. She makes a muumuu look sexy.

Blogger Asi Mod said ... (11:26 PM) :

Lucky Sart! Not only did you get a beautiful photo, you met a fan and you had your business card with you.

You lucky dog, you.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:54 AM) :

Love it. (Think I tried that dress on at H&M. Looks a lot better on her, though.)

Blogger ryan said ... (1:19 AM) :

hello summer!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:44 AM) :

cute girl and dress but what a brilliant shot! perfect lighting and composition. the bike, lamp post and cobble stones really add to the photo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:59 AM) :

That's so funny Kenley, I am a Dutch girl and you nailed it when you explained the bike riding in Europe. The key is to be creative: tuck your skirt between your legs, hold your skirt, wear shorts, hang your coat/jacket on the steering wheel so you won't flash your panties... I could go on and on. Use your imagination... The girl is adorable by the way.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:04 AM) :

She's beautiful! I LOVE that dress...does anyone know where I'd be able to find one like it?? Thanks!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:33 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:22 PM) :

absolutely gorgeous.

perfect.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:28 PM) :

Fresh, spring like feel both on the girl and the photo.

Her dress could have some shape to it though. Cheers to the lovely lady who looks lovely despite that dress!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:45 AM) :

a gorgeous photo ms. julia,
please ride to australia!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:29 PM) :

just like i like them...very girly and fragile...delicious

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:00 PM) :

i love her hair, so beautiful

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:41 AM) :

It's only getting on and off that poses a challenge to a girl's dignity. Also a stiff wind, but otherwise skirts don't pose too big a barrier to decorum ;)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:12 PM) :

I love how European girls look fashionable without trying too hard. With most American girls looking nice means they are really trying their best to look nice. It don't get it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:19 PM) :

I think she's a ballerina...given the way she places her feet.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:49 AM) :

Nice picture and very nice bike.

It's one of those "Gazelle" bikes that are currently rather popular among young girls over here.

btw: there is no problem in riding a bike with a dress/skirt of that length. It wears like shorts if you fix it between your legs.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:27 PM) :

She is lovely! I've been to Köln - on a romantic weekend, no less, and lots of lovely lasses - and lads - of her type. (Romantic interest also cycles but of course more closely resembles the Milanese gentlemen cycling on this blog).

I don't get the "fragile" comment though. She looks lithe and athletic.

As for the shift/mumu thing, once on the bicycle the breeze would more clearly define her shape. Too tight a belt is uncomfortable cycling, even if slim.

I wear skirts cycling all the time, though I'm old enough to be that girl's mum (and have never been tall and blonde, mannaggia!) so they are a bit longer. It is no problem. And while I certainly don't flash, I don't get my knickers in a knot if someone should see a bit of them for a microsecond - no more exposure than a swimsuit.

Red ones are nice ;-).

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:04 AM) :

Do Europeans ever get their bikes stolen? I live in Taipei and you can only have ugly, beat up bikes otherwise they get stolen. Very frustrating.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:23 PM) :

The dress is from the Children's section of H&M. I have it in an 'age 14' which is the biggest they do... which I guess is what she has too!

Anonymous Pietro said ... (9:50 PM) :

Note to self: Move back to Europe.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:17 PM) :

hey cool blog --i just wrote a blog about dutch bicycles if you want to check it out

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:45 AM) :

Don't you have too wear a helmetin NY?

Blogger Jay said ... (2:34 PM) :

Sprezzura..

Anonymous Tonni said ... (11:02 AM) :

I think I need to buy a bike! Luv it!
