but..he's not drinkin coffee

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:32 AM) :

Not that unlikely. He was a regular fixture on the bench outside the Spring St branch whenever I used to pass by.

Blogger DeepBlueSea said ... (7:09 AM) :

What is this guy's photo doing here? Old jeans and a baggy t-shirt?
Is this a celebrity blog now?

Blogger Les Mads said ... (7:19 AM) :

i love them both! starbucks and terry!

Blogger Ponury Żukowski said ... (7:54 AM) :

Terry's perfect.

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (8:00 AM) :

His work is amazing!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:02 AM) :

'Here's to porn and Lolita'

He's gross Sart, just gross.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:27 AM) :

I have to admit that although I don't always appreciate his "art"...he's a really cool guy!

Blogger MARIA H said ... (8:28 AM) :

Famous in deed, but kind of standing on the top of the shoulders of porn

Blogger DeepBlueSea said ... (8:29 AM) :

Ew, what's in the cup?

Blogger michael said ... (9:56 AM) :

fyi he is PERPETUALLY in the one on spring.

Blogger jamesylala said ... (10:54 AM) :

I'd supply him his caffine fix to see THAT ad campaign!!!!!!!

Blogger MARCA REGISTRADA said ... (11:20 AM) :

well... terry could be a nice add guy if starbucks sell vodca and if the gals were naked behind the coffee machine.... lol.

Blogger Laguna Beach Fogey said ... (12:16 PM) :

Great shot, Sart. I see this look all the time. The t-shirt, jeans, gold chain, tattoos--these are ubiquitous in Southern California. It's good to see that skinny, nerdy, balding, bespectacled white guys can be cool, too. More power to him!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:02 PM) :

i love terry

Blogger Stoner Lines said ... (1:11 PM) :

What's your point? Why is he on here?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:14 PM) :

Ugh--the bane of photography instructors who want their students to be inspired by someone who doesn't update and glamorize bad 70s Polaroid porn.

He's a fitting match to a megaconglomerate like Starbucks.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:15 PM) :

I adore his work and his glasses

Blogger marie said ... (1:22 PM) :

yummy..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:43 PM) :

Tatted up with plain clothes and clean nails!

Nice statement. Great smile.

mltt

Blogger Cristina Redondo said ... (4:11 PM) :

maybe he is very unlikely spokesperson as you say...but he's really good taking photos and making sexual atmospheres...what do you think about him?

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:32 PM) :

well... he is the Mr. snapshot fashion photographer ;)

Blogger cassidy parker said ... (5:34 PM) :

great photographer! it's funny to hear people trash starbucks but in nyc that is the only reliable place to use a bathroom when youre walking around town. don't slap the hand that "feeds" you!

Blogger Butch said ... (7:38 PM) :

His look teeters on generic but acceptable dress-way-down; the glasses, however, don't transcend their own declasse non-allure, and drag the whole thing into the realm of extra-chromosome scuz.

Now I'll tell you how I REALLY felt about it....

Blogger Blaise said ... (9:07 PM) :

Well, I don't know Terry Richardson, but from what I've read about the posts here, he seems infamous.. But I do like his classic white-shirt and blue jeans get up.. It's actually very refreshing to see..

Blogger Orchid & Wasp said ... (9:30 PM) :

Where's the stretch? Terry's obviously great at getting people to drink all kinds of things.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:25 AM) :

STARSBUCKS! you gotta'em seeing stars, you do

Blogger mwade said ... (1:43 AM) :

wow... I had no idea that everyone had such strong feelings about T.Richardson? Lots of negative posts, however I think it's ironic that everyone who is rippin Terry sure seems to know his style and approach to photography. It seems as if his point is coming across clear...how he intends it to be. Love you Terry...

Blogger Disneyrollergirl.net said ... (3:55 AM) :

He's here cos he's doing his own thing. Yay to individuality!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:47 AM) :

This isn't one of your better shots , old son. Get back on the street, it's your natural habitat and your work's all the better for it. Leave the pap shots to the press.

Blogger Asi Mod said ... (9:01 AM) :

Terry Richardson is an interesting character. I saw his photo collection in a coffee table book recently and let's just say, I saw more than this work.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:04 AM) :

at least he doesn't wear those hideous ripped side-less tank tops that people w/tattoo's wear, you know, to show off more tattoos on their stomach/etc. As if it is something we all want to look at. That drummer from Blink 182 wears them all the time, they should be illegal. Terry's look is classic white tshirt w/jeans, you can't really go wrong. And it works for him.

Blogger positively the same dame said ... (1:07 PM) :

cheers, darlin!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:28 PM) :

he's hot!!!

Blogger rebbe said ... (5:59 PM) :

now it's only a matter of weeks before The Gap contacts him to start wearing khakis for them!

Blogger MARIA H said ... (7:12 PM) :

mwade you assume that stating elements on his work is a negative judgment when is only stating the elements that contain the real value of his work. As you say "he has an approach" to photography, that is very clear and does not require lots of intellectual work to "understand" (I would rather say consume).
Love or hate for Terry would be like people's love or hate for porn.

Blogger riz said ... (7:41 PM) :

Haha. that's hilarious - and REB -that is truly a dystopian image if ever i could imagine one...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:52 PM) :

Hahahaha, I love all of the snooty fashion snobs that are angered by this post. This guy looks FUCKING AWESOME. I don't even know who he is, honestly. A porn star? Okay, cool. Just some random guy? Okay, cool. The personification of Los Angeles? Yes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:03 AM) :

i tried to hint at his before but you spelled STARSBUCK wrong!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:43 PM) :

Now I´m really lost.Read all the comments and I still don´t have a clue to who this chap actually is.And secondly I don´t even care cause I hate tattoos and since he has armfuls of them-well,I don´t find this picture interesting at all.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:39 PM) :

perhaps its an iced venti no whip pumpkin spice latte.

Blogger david said ... (2:44 AM) :

let me se...what pulls together white t and heavy gold cross while in faded jeans??hmmm...oh, yeah! tats. the new pearls.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:04 AM) :

Not sure who'll still be reading this, so maybe I'm writing just to get it off my chest...

Not at all that unlikely I'd say. He looks like a very warm person and I could almost bet he gets this a lot. I was flipping through his photoshoot with Catherine McNeal in the October 2007 issue of British Vogue the other day, and thought how stunning his imagery was. Stunning in its honesty, clarity and humour. Though still possibly most memorable for its rawness and the erotic. Not to forget, this shot here is quite terrific, S.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:59 AM) :

Actually his drink looks like an Iced Venti Non-fat Latte that has been sitting too long and had all of it's ice melt away and dilute the espresso shots into watery ickiness. ( I just knew that my 14 years at the 'bucks would be good for something someday!)

But I love his look.

Blogger Eideloos redactie said ... (12:07 PM) :

i really like the combination of a clean cut whit tshirt and blue jeans and lots of tattoos.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:41 PM) :

hahaa, hes cool as fuck. L.a. does great work.
