The first man reminds me of a more fashionable version of my father. The second guy is fantastic too...love the blue peeking out! Brings the whole outfit to life.
The bottom guy might be one of the worst dressed people I've ever seen on this blog.
A little too much.

The second; not so much. And what is that little blue skirt?

#1 I love the colors and textures of the sweater under the sober layers of jacket and coat.
#2 great scarves, I like blue and black, but the puffy shoes distract my eye from the rest of the look.
that blue silk[?] sarong embedded underneath all that black/grey outfit seems just a tad overwrought. then your eye is drawn down to the lemon of the shoes to make a contrast. still he could have done without the these two elements.
What a nice boy, with great style. An I love his hair.

I'm just loving the colorful knit vests on the guys. Shows a bit of plafulness, which is always in style.

I love the huge scarf and long-ish shirt on the second fellow. And those shoes are fantastic.
I love, love when people are able to create depth and texture with their layering. I think it is a special skill in dressing. i especially like the gentleman on the bottom photo.
# 2 has a be-yoo-ti-ful face. Which, unfortunately seems to be floating disembodied above the rest of his body.
One scarf only would make him look less top-heavy. Or two with just a sweater.
I think his feet hurt. I think his daft-looking shoes are a size too small.

The older guy has done a good job of layering-the colors match in a nice way. The same can´t be said of the younger chap. He has failed from top to bottom. What´s with the bag? It just doesn´t fit with the mix.

I love this look with the 2 edits already mentioned: the sneakers and the blue "Dress". What can be better than layers and layers of grey. This look might be too much for Joe Schmo but with the right attitude and sexy look it's fabulous!

I love the funky fair isle in the top photo. Preppy with a wicked twist can be very appealing, especially under all those handsome tweeds.
That young man is absolutely gorgeous!
I do think that his outfit may have been punctuated better with darker, less Richard Simmons-like shoes.
But I'd take him with or without the high tops! ;)

First guy is great, if a little conventional. I want to like the look of the second, but I just can't handle the high tops with the scarves. I'm not a fan of a lot of bulk lately...it makes my neck and shoulders hurt just looking at it...I think if you threw off the winterwear, I might really dig this guy. And props for the man's bag.
He's a beautiful man. Really beautiful--So he can get away with more than most. Still not sure if I'm crazy about this ensemble though.
Love how the gentleman in the top image has layered the blue grey and brown garments with the multicolored sweater. Love how all the patterns work so well. The professorial herringbone jacket never looked so good.
The second image with the bold dash of cerulean blue against the stark grey and black is captivating. I want to reach out and lift up the scarf and sweater to get a better look.
The white and yellow sneakers are are a nice striking contrast againt the more somber colors. Great casual elegant look for a jaunt around town.

John's comment was interesting because I thought just the opposite! He's gorgeous. There are so many cool ideas here and somehow he makes it work.
The first guy's great. Not so sure about the second guy... the way he tied his shoes is a bit strange. Not very into shoes being tied at the back, esp. on a guy. And is that blue thing a skirt? Fortunately he is pretty so he can do whatever he wants...

The guy on the bottom takes me back to gradeschool, when we wore our jeans tucked into undone construction boots with the tongues hanging out. .
No white sneakers, especially untied ones! Ugh!
I love #2, from the knees up. Those shoes are so cliché for "artsy college kids," and I am so tired of seeing them. A great pair of black leather boots would make him fabulous!
For me, being younger and knowing less about the established conventions and the influence they have on fashion, #2 stands out the most of nearly all the posts I've seen here. If you really don't like it, I think it may boil down to a generational thing.
Fashion forward, backward or inside out, I love it.
Great colors...but too much scarf and those shoes are horrible. Lose a scarf (or two) and get some decent shoes and this would be a winner for sure.
The first fellow looks excellent.
Is the second man wearing heels? Or lifts in his shoes? His funky stance and wrinkly trainers somehow give me that impression.
The first guy is very professor and the second guy needs to think again about the shoes. I'm not into the second outfit.
ok, let me first say i think he looks great. BUT! a big problem i have with this blog is if a normal (sized) person were to wear the same exact outfit (confident demeanor or not) they'd look completely ridiculous.

I love this style on men, A schholmate of mine at university is known for this lovely way of layering, I always thinks he looks so smart.
They are both appealing. The first guy knows what he is doing; the young guy is still trying find out. He is gorgeous so he can dress in such a silly way and get away with it.
First man is nicely dressed but it strikes me as overly conservative. He could have gone wild with the tie given the colors in the vest.
Second one looks like he's right off the Stockholm-JFK flight with the white high tops. Gorg face. Always love doubled scarves, the overall mix of proportions are great on him.
#2 works for me so much! Love it. The bulkiness of the scarves are toned down by the straight legged pants while still being fashion forward by the heaviness they present. I think most people who look at this and say "no", are thrown off by the electric pop, if you will, he gives with the surprising shoe combo and blue. Most people want one statement in a look but why?, I say.

Fair Isle is always in style; and an overproduced layered look makes me smile. Well laugh actually; he is just trying too hard. Sart beware that the male fashionista crowd in the village, soho and tribeca have now made a game of dressing to get their pic taken for The Sartorialist. Fashionable male men without children have lots of time on their hands and they don't spend it in their tiny alphabet city apts. Keep the site pure, natural and uncontrived; the second shot is just a parade of gimmicks.

The second picture is fantastic but I can't help to think how much better it would've been with a pair of chunkier boots instead of white sneakers. This is a bit too Kris van Assche a couple of years ago.
But still, he looks amazing.
Love the layering, but does anyone know the cartoon "Hey Arnold"? His shirt looks like Arnold's shirt that looks like a skirt...
err... my boyfriend has the exact same Shetland wool sweater as the men from the first picture! We live in Montreal and got it at Simons, a store that can be found only in Quebec... I'm so surprised!

the first subject is darling. the second, i like waist up. i'm not feeling his sneakers or his blue shirt. it kinda looks like a short skirt.
Oh my god, both of these two men are so, so good.
The second guy is a great example of someone who tries way too hard and throws everything but the kitchen sink at himself. It looks silly, uncomfortable, and overdone. I'm all in favor of breaking away from the norm, but there's a difference between breaking away, because you have a cool idea, and breaking away by dressing in the dark.
And what is that blue rag? A skirt?

Never before have I considered getting a Fair Isle sweater. This look is awesome. sadly summer approaches quickly in the south... maybe I can get one on sale for next season.

personally i think th second guy is great. i guess i'm biased. because i've always been wearing my jeans this way: tucked into my high cuts.

The first guy screams of "50 year old prep". Terrible!!! The sweater- wrong.. the tie and shirt colour- wrong..
The second guy i like.. his fashion sense is interesting, playful, unashamed.
hmm... the second chap is very pretty, but his clothes aren't doing him any favours at all. His silhouette is bizarre, and the colours (turquoise and lemon?) jarring. And yes, it does look like a skirt.
The older one looks great.
The guy on top makes knits look comforting and cozy. He looks fine in his own skin.
The second guy doesn't give me that impression. I get a very menacing vibe from him. It could be his stance.
The second is one of those rare and perfect examples of how neon colour should utilised.

What are those high top sneakers? I'm obsessed with them! Does anyone recognize the brand?
Yet another example of the plague that invaded ladies fashion a while ago: let's mix things that don't match and let's call it "Subversive Fashion Decadence"... To me, the epitome of style boastfulness! In this sense, anybody can be fashion icon, in the end, once, by chance, you can look interesting. Not the case of this lad though! He positively looks uninteresting...
I keep on coming back to this bottom picture, I just love the whole look. Well, maybe not too keen on those shoes, but still.

i put 2 scarves cause i like that volumes on the silhouette.
