The last guy looks angry that his mom pulled his away from the new World of Warcraft expansion.

Blogger Brigadeiro said ... (5:07 PM) :

Wow, that 1st floral jacket is crazy cool! And double wow to the guy in the 2nd photo. Natalia with her kids...just precious! Gorgeous photos all-round!

Hamish we love you!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:12 PM) :

Love love love Natalia with her lovelies! And I've always been a fan of the underappreciated ISABELI FONTANA. Beautiful Italian Brasilian--classy, elegant, with skin still supple unlike her VS counterparts! She looks fantastic even in this natural pose where she's taken by surprise.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:32 PM) :

The first pic is so festive. Looks like a pajama party . . .

Blogger mgi said ... (5:38 PM) :

Blogger a secret journal said ... (9:30 PM) :

Love the picture with the kids, so happy.

How I wish I am at that stage of mind.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:53 PM) :

I don't feel the spontaneously in the photos from Brasil like ocurrs when you photograph people on the streets of NY or Paris por example.
In most brazilian photos I don't see the unknown stilish guy/girl. There are mostly models or high society people.

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:11 PM) :

I like the embellishment of Indian Rudrakskha beads on the neck and wrist of the man holding the woman in the skull dress...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:33 PM) :

i love the one with the children its soo sweet! and also the gorgeous man!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:59 PM) :

LOVE the skulls dress!! also, the printed pants & jacket in the first photo resemble some pieces that jcrew had a few months ago. love rio!

Blogger Sue | Saras | Sohf Travels said ... (12:24 AM) :

I love the dress!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:55 AM) :

I don't know if I would've taken that last guys picture. What is wrong with you? Haven't you seen Turistas? Oh, and the girl in the skulls dress looks incredible is she a model?

Blogger the sophisticat said ... (1:01 AM) :

Image 1, left: Pant Envy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:10 AM) :

the last photo is very interesting, because at first I thought "he" was a "she", and it could go the other way around. Androgyny is attractive here.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:28 AM) :

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the picture of Natalia and her kids...its just...i can't its just AMAAAAZZZINNGGG. Great job Sart!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:42 AM) :

love the variety of subjects lately. keep it up!

Blogger Pavlin said ... (2:18 AM) :

Nothing special at all.
Tw guys on the first pic are cute reminder of 70s-80s NYC roof parties.
Too much of Vodyanova is tiresome.
The last one has nothing catchy in it.

Blogger cat minoki said ... (3:12 AM) :

I really really like the printed trousers and jacket in the upper pic!

Friendly colours, indian and italian or french patterns. Well, I am not sure if the printed jacket works with the dark blue shirt, and the way it´s closed is a bit female... but that doesn´t really matter.

I have patterns like those for our furniture and pillows, looks nice as well ;))

Yes and I like the boy below. He has an interesting nose and I like the way how his shirt and short absolutely don´t match. Trés sympa!

The rest: Are they really relaxed or just acting?

Blogger fashionfatwa said ... (3:15 AM) :

Note to self: It *IS* alright to wear loads of funky jewelry with a swimsuit!

HALAL!

Blogger Post-it boy said ... (4:59 AM) :

JIM JAM CHIC. LOVE IT.

Blogger TMFA said ... (5:17 AM) :

Blogger natasha said ... (5:26 AM) :

Blogger Bedlam said ... (6:16 AM) :

I like that dress, everyone look like they are having fun, no invite for me

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:16 AM) :

i love the skulls...
worn by isabeli even more :-)

Blogger Liz said ... (6:32 AM) :

The skull dress is from Wheels & Doll Baby - love it !
Jemima Khan had another version a few years ago ...

Lovely picture of mum playing with her children in the sand ...
As I sad before...beach pictures - always have that something extra ...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:44 AM) :

love the skull dress - feminine attitude!! i want one :D

Blogger Unknown said ... (6:53 AM) :

the skull dress! best take on maxi dress yet. Am I right in guessing it's a maxi dress? Either way, I'm a bit in love with it... x

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:10 AM) :

love that blue and pink colored outfit at the first pic :>

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (7:34 AM) :

I love the picture with the kids!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:17 AM) :

I love the picture of the kids in the sand. What a sweet, touching image.

Blogger stephen said ... (9:59 AM) :

i like the woman burying her children in the sand pic.

the skull dress is real great.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:25 AM) :

The first picture is absolutely costumey and borderline ridiculous... it's what Northerners think people from Rio might don for themselves...

Blogger norawoah said ... (10:30 AM) :

Hamish!
Fabulous!

Blogger TEXTSTYLES said ... (10:30 AM) :

beautiful people

hamish bowles=my idol
natalia burying her kids?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:35 AM) :

Eu amo a Isabeli...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:31 AM) :

Is everyone in Rio thin, tan and gorgeous? I am feeling a bit pasty and plump just looking at these photos here in the colder climate.... Love all the dresses and just the sense of beachy fun! Just saw Hamish at the YSL lecture last week at SF DeYoung and he is really so beautifully spoken as he is well dressed.

Blogger 凹me,凹u,凹the world said ... (1:05 PM) :

love~~~

Blogger green lantern said ... (1:10 PM) :

I generally love everything Hamish puts together. Both in its dynamic appeal and how he juxtaposes colors and fabrics...but...white shoes this time, Hamish!

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (2:37 PM) :

All amazing shots! WOW!

Blogger Jamie Welsh Watson said ... (2:54 PM) :

I want that skeleton dress!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:58 PM) :

I love love love the first picture. Hamish of course never disappoints, but the two of them together is even more incredible, the pants on the left, the jacket on the right, the bright colored slippers on both. And don't you just love how their individual drinks match their shoes! =)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:18 PM) :

First photo: I love every piece except the blue pants and collar popped polo. Guy on the left = very cool.

Second photo = sex.

Third photo: I like the color of the woman's bikini top.

Fourth photo: Skull dress needs to go!

The rest is a snooze.

Blogger Andy said ... (3:28 PM) :

Hot skull dress. Great capture too. I like it when skulls etc are pulled off without looking goth.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:30 PM) :

wonderful prints! funny how in the first picture thir drinks match the color of their shoes...just wonder if its intentional.
just love rio, so beautiful, just hoped most brazilians wouldn't be afraid to be more stylish..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:20 PM) :

I'm from Rio and I have to say, I'm disappointed. Clearly, you did not venture far from the hotel and fashion shows. As a result, these are the same Jet-Set fashion people. How can anyone take a bad picture of Isabeli or Natalia?

Of course, Rio is dangerous and you can't venture off necessarily like that. But sadly, you seem to have taken mostly pictures of the predictably skinny people ...Rio is a great city but people for the most part are not as fashionable as Paris or NYC - that is what I wish you had captured. People dress more "naturally" and they are not trying to be anything else...Bring back Emanuelle Alt and the Vogue P gang, they are the queens of this blog (and I miss them). Rio remains, for the most part, lost in translation.

Blogger 1234 said ... (3:47 AM) :

beautiful photos. i want to be there, and be around people like that.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:38 PM) :

Great, Great, Great !!!

You guys on the top photo ( pretending I don't know who they are !!! ) you seem to have so much fun! much more fun than when you are in Milan, Roma, Florence, Paris or NY !!!
the question is :
life is short !!!
where should we be to :
have fun
be ourselves
avoid les cons ???
Rio, could be a destination ???
That is what I am looking for ???
Paradise could be anywhere we want it to be, but unfortunately we depend sooooo much on others !!!

Peace and see you soon , there

Diego Montoya

yeah, the girl who's wearing the skull thing is a model, her name's Izabeli Fontana.. i want to see the ppl in the streets, not those there were in the fashion show...

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:39 AM) :

my god...finally some amazing guys! The first couple is just fantastic...very fresh and inspiring...love the pink shoes!!! Brilliant!!!
X

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:52 AM) :

Hy girls!
I have the dress whit the skulls! I buy it in Rome, my city! if someone wants one of this I can inform!
besos

Sartorialist,
I miss you...
These shots from Rio show that the original spirit of your blog has been lost and replaced with some jet-set credibility.
I'd like you to leave the models and the fashionistas for your magazine work, and look a little harder at the people on the street with unexpected style.
I miss the cool old men
I miss the girls with unexpected combinations of H&M and Marni
I'm really not inspired by all this tiresome fabulosity.
Are we paying the price of your fame?

Just my opinion ...

Blogger The Sartorialist said ... (9:21 AM) :

Did you look at the post right below this one? The girl with the bubbles skirt and plaid jkt. She is exactly what you are talking about and the girl above with the fur-ish coat?

Did you see all the girls from Moscow?

I don't think you are paying close attention.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:16 PM) :

Oh Hamish...I am so sad that Vogue Living is calling it quits.
Isabeli looks perfect.

Blogger B. FLY AND THE CITY said ... (5:02 AM) :

JUST LOOK AT THE WAY HE'S GRABBING HER BY THE WAIST....UGH NEVER SEE THAT IN AMERICA!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:48 AM) :

I'd like to see the jacket and the pants worn from the first picture in one outfit....
Beautiful photos as always.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:49 PM) :

the first mans pants. the black and white ones, in my eyes so modern wasp

Blogger ted gushue said ... (5:41 PM) :

they are actually cream and navy, i own the same pair, RL purple label i believe. they are light as can be, actually mistaken for pajama pants by the uneducated. fantastic pants

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:52 PM) :

Dear Sartorialist,

You are right - I've been overly judgmental.
LOVE the latest posts...
I know that your work life has to inform this blog, and you ARE showing us a vibrant mix of people from your expanded travels.
Maybe I felt left out by the uber fab beach scene in this particular post.
Maybe I was jealous!
I'll be paying closer attention.
I will ALWAYS be a fan, and I thank you for setting me straight...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:54 PM) :

This last guy is goregous!

Blogger 41228774 said ... (10:59 PM) :
