a slick and classic city look. the pop of orange really makes this complete.

Blogger Alexa said ... (3:01 PM) :

hah i love it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:02 PM) :

Smooth and Silk, great fit!

Blogger jcrew guy in Canada said ... (3:04 PM) :

Great cut to the coat. I really like the orange scarf with it. Very stylish, very well done.

Blogger Eric.Granwehr said ... (3:06 PM) :

i really cannot figure out how you get your lighting to be flawless every time.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:15 PM) :

nice. I can tell that I love his tie even by the very hint of it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:22 PM) :

Hello gorgeous. You look stunning.

Blogger Cameron Newland said ... (3:23 PM) :

A Chesterfield, no?

Blogger Michael Rex said ... (3:29 PM) :

I am a fool for the chocolate brown and orange. It is the new black and works well with vivid colors!

Blogger cras4 said ... (3:30 PM) :

wow. nice coat.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:30 PM) :

Love it, beautiful accent scarf to the whole outfit. BTW, wasn't he profiled in your blog once before and on GQ as well?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:38 PM) :

I like his short scarf and the way he's knotted it. The coat with the velvet collar reminds me of that British stalwart, the covert coat, made of khaki twill; a rare sight these days, more's the pity.

Blogger Wanderlusting said ... (3:39 PM) :

Love it - great shot, great colours :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:41 PM) :

If only only my hubby would dress so well.

Blogger Unknown said ... (3:45 PM) :

that boy is slick!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:50 PM) :

I can live without the shades, but the tailoring is perfect. the orange is perfect. Love the detail at the end of the sleeve(perfect length). another home-run.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:53 PM) :

that coat is the perfect length

Blogger Michael Joseph Owens said ... (3:56 PM) :

Fantastic details—glasses, scarf, velvet collar. Really lovely.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:02 PM) :

I like this. Nice clean lines. Very smooth.

Blogger mockumentary said ... (4:04 PM) :

that looks like a beautiful, well-made coat. love his scarf colors, although not a fan of his goatee/beard. goard? beartee?

Blogger Jillian Hobbs said ... (4:07 PM) :

velvet is quite under appreciated in my opinion. And that little addition of orange was just what the look needed! He looks fantastic, indeed!

Blogger Dominica said ... (4:07 PM) :

Looks very stylish - a bit of a Scapa guy ...
very nice !

Blogger Susie said ... (4:09 PM) :

I love this! He looks fantastic, his tie, shirt, scarf, ring. A very handsome well turned out gentleman.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:20 PM) :

what an incredible sense of style. not a bad man either...

Blogger morgan said ... (4:20 PM) :

i'm in love. LOVE LOVE.

Blogger Dan in Richmond said ... (4:27 PM) :

He looks great. I like the velvet collar, and the covered placket (if that's the correct term) is a nice touch and very appropriate for this coat. Everything else is equally sharp. Of course we want to see the shoes! Hope you had (and have) a great holiday. Welcome back!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:27 PM) :

The coat is beautifully cut but I don't really like anything else he has going on. I think it's particularly the glasses which are pushing me away. Are those rhinestones?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:38 PM) :

Ooooh, now this I REALLY like a lot. All of it . . .

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (4:39 PM) :

Such a nice coat. Only, it's not suitable for very, very cold weather....I think.

I've been wondering when you were coming back. ;)

Great pic.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:44 PM) :

Just the right contrast....Richard

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:03 PM) :

hey it's simba! he's such a lad about town and a perfect gentleman. his style suits his charming and urbane personality. somebody get him a modelling contract quick!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:15 PM) :

I like it, but I'd love to see this guy's shoes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:19 PM) :

Oh wow... He is sharp! Love it.

Blogger Shelley Noble said ... (5:24 PM) :

Simply sensational. The gentleman really knows how to dress. Well done.

Blogger The Spicers said ... (5:34 PM) :

Love the orange scarf!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:51 PM) :

Sart,

I second the comment about your masterful way of lighting your subjects. Shooting in the harsh winter light of the avenues is very difficult.

big ups!

Blogger erin nuts said ... (5:55 PM) :

I actually don't love his whole look, just personally, but that coat is fantastic.

Blogger LRB said ... (6:06 PM) :

So suave, a modern day Lando Calrissian.

Blogger Bonzie Designs said ... (6:17 PM) :

I love the equestrian feel to this coat, its absolutely rockin!

The wearer helps too. :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:50 PM) :

nice

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:01 PM) :

Yes, he's been featured on this blog before, looking just as good then as he does now:

http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/2007/05/on-streetmodern-t-monk-new-york.html

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:04 PM) :

Spectacular hair, shades, scarf and coat, but he must watch those pockets: anything left in them will cause the coat to lose its shape.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:37 PM) :

I truly love your recent photos of classically dressed African Americans. It is so refreshing to see their sense of style versus the stereotypical 'hip hop' look. I, for one, aspire to emulate the classical elegance depicted in this shot. Great photo. Please keep it up.

Blogger SparkleQueen said ... (7:54 PM) :

Nice coat, well fitted and the scarf adds a nice contrast.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:02 PM) :

Beautiful! It's strange, I remember the first pic you had of this gentleman so vividly: he was the one with white ipod headphones on and even then he looked smashing, as does he now. So happy to have great men's style coming back to the blog. Bodes well for what's to come from Pitti, I hope.

Energie

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:42 PM) :

yes please!!

Blogger diane said ... (8:57 PM) :

Nice fitting coat; the scarf is the right proportion and color.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:57 PM) :

I am less than wild about his sunglasses and phone. I am completely wild about the rest of it. I do wish we could see his shoes, but I can hear them tock tock tock on the sidewalk - as crisply as he cuts through a chilly day. he and Mory are the unofficial ambassadors of orange! It is so beautiful with their skin.

Blogger E said ... (9:04 PM) :

That is a Chesterfield overcoat--essential to every gentleman's wardrobe. I'm having one made by my Chicago bespoke tailor, Paul Chang.

Blogger That Girl Ang said ... (9:15 PM) :

Hmmm....yummy!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:26 PM) :

Ouch, so severely attractive, I love it.

Blogger foxy jo said ... (9:34 PM) :

so very very fine

Blogger junglesiren said ... (9:58 PM) :

He's perfect IMO. Rugged and refined at once.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:13 PM) :

just want to say I love the new larger photo format.

Blogger The Concrete Commentator said ... (10:47 PM) :

nice coat! nice style.

Blogger Starck Mad said ... (11:05 PM) :

mmm.....not sure what the 'wallheel' link was about, didn't see the coat?

The shot, and the coat are awesome.....and the punkin' colored scarf is nice!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:53 PM) :

That's nice.
He almost looks like me, if i were much better-looking and cared more about my clothes.....

Blogger lenmeister said ... (12:09 AM) :

Flawless look really..everything's perfect...his 1/4 lenght coat could have been tailored for him i'm thinking...from my experience thats when garments fit the best, great shot too! props to the photographer..wouldve like to see his shoes and how are the bottoms, im guessing plain!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:16 AM) :

This guy looks like Tony Sinclair..."Ready to Tanqueray?"

Blogger lponte said ... (1:10 AM) :

I know some people are not digging the sunglasses, but I think it really modernizes the whole look. And that pop of orange with the scarf...perfect!!

Blogger parisgirl said ... (1:14 AM) :

love the slim fit and velvet collar...very english. the orange scarf takes it beyond stuffy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:28 AM) :

I know it has been said, but shoes, shoes!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:49 AM) :

oooooh! handsome man! love the perfectly tailored coat.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:58 AM) :

Wonderful! The coat is beautifully cut. And isn't he just lovely!?

Blogger Welcome said ... (2:19 AM) :

Ah. A modern day Thelonious monk, again.
A little nod to the old school fans.

Great shot btw.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:55 AM) :

Where ever can I find such a beautiful scarf such as this? I'm going through an orange faze right now and I feel neckpieces add a nice little touch to my wardrobe. If anyone is able to help that would be greatly appreciated. Holla, keep it gangsta.

Sartorialism at its best!

Blogger seasonc said ... (4:21 AM) :

Oh wow, so stylish!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:14 AM) :

The man is gorgeous (his coat aswell...)

Thank you Sart

Blogger Bedlam said ... (5:43 AM) :

great pose, love the style

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:19 AM) :

A dangerous-looking man (in a good way) dressed to inspire a lot of fantasies. Very nice.
I especially like the size of the scarf. Though huge scarves are wonderful in theory, they can make the wearer look as if she or he has no head at all--just a peanut with hair.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:35 AM) :

The orange scarf is an interesting touch. I love this coat. I think one of my co-workers has the same (or very similar) coat.

Blogger An Aesthete's Lament said ... (8:49 AM) :

Ah, but such a coat requires the wearer to be thin. Otherwise the effect is ruined.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:16 AM) :

is that a brooks brothers coat?

Blogger Jill said ... (9:32 AM) :

This is one good looking man! Great shot.

Blogger Love + Cake said ... (9:39 AM) :

Looks great! I love the bit of orange in there.

Oh my. Absolutely GORGEOUS.

Blogger Jessica said ... (10:54 AM) :

Yes please.

Blogger Stephanie Clayton said ... (11:46 AM) :

Too splendid for words...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:49 AM) :

I love Hermes orange, whether the scarf is H or not. The proportions are perfect, and oh my gosh, what a beautiful man...
Thanks for brightening my days and helping me understand more about gentlemen's clothes. Happy New Year and keep those fabulous photos coming!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:15 PM) :

Any man who can rock bright orange should have his picture taken.
Sweet!

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:28 PM) :

Call me. Anytime!

This classic English look is complemented by the modern flourishes such as the jewelry and the sunnies.

I love, love, love the hair, the goatee, the beautiful orange scarf.
I appreciate the fit, as well.

Handsomeness!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:01 PM) :

Simpe, amazing, brilliant! Three fine words to describe this outfit!

Blogger Remah said ... (3:09 PM) :

Love the jacket.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:29 PM) :

Very sharp.
He looks like somebody "important". I wonder what he does?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:08 PM) :

J'adore!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:27 PM) :

This guy always looks great, I've seen him a few times on this blog and always wonder what it is he does besides looking good!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:57 PM) :

For some reason I feel like this guy is wearing square toe shoes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:58 PM) :

Nice coat and scarf.Shirt sleeves seem to be of perfect length, but please we'd love to see the shoes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:12 PM) :

I must admit, I'm not too keen on that coat, its too plain. Nice scarf though!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:28 PM) :

Someone's looking smooth!

Blogger Mr.Right said ... (5:38 PM) :

Tangerine is a pure revival!!
I've always think that scarfs and foulards for men are soo sooo into my closet, its better if we got Hermes, but if its not, anyway still works!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:45 PM) :

He's wearing my Chesterfield coat from high school--and that was in the sixties!

Loved it then, love it now.

Wanted it then (and got it), want it now :)

Blogger Vera said ... (7:50 PM) :

What an amazing look! So simple, so elegant. The tangerine really pops.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:17 PM) :

As previously noted he has been featured by Sart before. I found him on another fashion blog too. He is inspirational. Such a cool seemingly effortless style. Perhaps that the secret. Don't try too hard. Keep things simple and cleanly tailored.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:38 PM) :

The long, slim line of the coat with the striped sleeves peeking out are just gorgeous. So's he. Beautiful hair. Stephanie

Blogger Bittersweet Bibliophile said ... (11:28 PM) :

Another accessory spotted: Wedding Ring. If he looks like this, I'm sure his wife is doing big things!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:31 PM) :

I like the touch of orange, however . . . I can't figure out how that coat buttons up. The lapel looks like right over left, but the buttons looke like left over right.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:48 PM) :

Fantastic!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:01 AM) :

Words cannot describe how exceptionally well the scarf goes with the coat. It brings the look from late 19th century London to New York, 2008.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:08 AM) :

Very chic.

Blogger [patricia] said ... (4:33 AM) :

everything anyone should look for in a coat;

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:36 PM) :

Nossa, o que eu mais gostei foi a pose dele e a expressão do rosto, ele ficou realmente sexy. Sobre a roupa, o lenso laranja deu um toque especial e os óculos são maravilhosos!
Kisses from Brazil!

Blogger Leeeza said ... (11:37 AM) :

Just plain sharp!

That is very sharp. Those colors are great together. Also the scarf is put very nicely. Did you notice the tie very handsome.-Sosie

Blogger Mz. Paulzen said ... (3:54 PM) :

This look has the appeal of a concrete pillar. Where's the human element? Too standard and unapproachable.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:22 PM) :

I wish more men dressed like this.

Blogger Hannah said ... (5:56 PM) :

If he breathed on me, I would thank him.
