Blogger Jillian Hobbs said ... (10:08 AM) :

such a lovely jacket and i love her hair... such beautiful curls!

Blogger Fannah said ... (10:08 AM) :

STRIPES! Especially navy ones. One of my many obsessions and I love to see people 'working them' like this.

Blogger Hannah said ... (10:09 AM) :

Oh her jacket is lovely. Its a shame adelaide's (SA) fashion sense is somewhat substandard.

Have a lovely day and enjoy our wonderful country :)

I love the combination of patterns and colors; they are totally unexpected but work really well especially with the fit of the clothes.

her ensemble just inspired mine for today. And, I simply love the delicate light in this photo...it seems to suit her casual, easy outfit and that far-away expression she has.

Blogger Diana said ... (10:30 AM) :

She and the mixed plaids guy would be a nice pair together :-)
I like her hair, too

EMMA ! who else from Sydney that I knew would get on this site ? This outfit, however marvelous it is, it's truelly nothing compared to some of the things she can throw together. A true gift ! And a total babe

Blogger miss sophie said ... (11:08 AM) :

the mix of stripes and plaid check plus her wonderful curly hair makes this really individual and stylish. that blazer looks vintage, but it fits her so well!

I enjoyed the architectural background of the image. Having lived the 80s, I would say this is too literal 1980's for me to enjoy. Don't we learn from our style mistakes and do it better the second time around, designers? Jorge from WPB

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:18 AM) :

the color is so different there....in Australia...the light seems to be colder and cleaner than in Europe and America....

Blogger JULES said ... (11:23 AM) :

her whole outfit is simply stylish her hair is gorgeous. Australia is beautiful! The lighting is perfect...

i am loving these shots from sydney!
it is a pity you don't have any more from melbourne though. i was looking forward to seeing the edgier look of melburnians!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:48 AM) :

...hipsterism is not over...and probably will never be?! I like how she is able to make it her own thing.

Blogger Rita said ... (11:51 AM) :

That's eerily similar to what I'm wearing right at this moment... interesting experience :p

Blogger Claudia Shekufendeh said ... (11:57 AM) :

Eh, I dunno... It's probably my childhood experience of giving my mother fits every time I combined striped with checkers that is throwing me off.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:59 AM) :

Lovely!!

Blogger Gary K. said ... (12:02 PM) :

Wonderful mix of stripes and checks. Beautiful hair. Great lighting. A perfect shot!

Blogger ashlie said ... (1:28 PM) :

Love the mix of patterns/textures.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:34 PM) :

beautiful girl. that jacket is stunning on her, the fit is extraordinary. without the jacket and her amazing brows, its a bit ho hum seen it before,...i think the contrasting patterns add interest.

Blogger Damian said ... (1:42 PM) :

i use the same combination of patterns, i have khaki trenchcoat with plaid pattern and a stripped b&w polo shirt. good to see im not the only one. =D

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:47 PM) :

hate to say it, but these Australia looks are seeming - behind the curve - somehow. like they're cleverly playing dress-up as opposed to being sarts... maybe its just too casual down there? i was hoping for some color/riskiness...

Blogger Laura M. said ... (2:36 PM) :

oh! très chic!

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (2:48 PM) :

Simple. Yet, strikingly beautiful.

cold yesterday -beautiful clear skies though-suggest you also go to newtown for more individual looks

Firstly, is this not the future of fashion? When the earth reaches its final hour in 5 billion years (when the sun ceases to burn), is this not what we should all be wearing for a new civilization? This young lady has presented us with a relaxed utopian outfit - stripes and jackets should be embraced not only for fashion, but for the survival of the human species.

Blogger No-ëllk said ... (9:27 PM) :

yay emma! COFA students are some of sydneys best.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:44 PM) :

Anonymous geezi said ... (11:33 PM) :

she looks like she doesnt care what people say about the outfit.. & that is most interesting in this pic..!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:35 PM) :

It's funny the way the light here is so different from the rest of the world... like the Australian sun puts its signature on every photo.

Blogger Kyah (www.kyahhillis.tumblr.com) said ... (1:01 AM) :

brilliant combination of stripes and checks. I love everything about this effortless style!

5 would have agreed on king st, newtown 5 years ago, but visiting there the other week after being away for so long i was teribly disappointed. it's become so generic and - sorry - oxford st!!!

now, i'd say pop up to newcastle and come out on a wednesday evening or sunday afternoon!

this look is great and i love it, but it's everywhere. it's the aussie 18-25 year old uniform for going out for a quick coffee or to the pub to see a band and have a beer!

Blogger Hanna Persson said ... (1:29 AM) :

great photo, great clothes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:54 AM) :

looooove striped shirts!
they are classic.
I often wear them with
little pearl necklace that goes along the neckline

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:10 AM) :

Go COFA students!!!

Anonymous patricia said ... (4:50 AM) :

she's cofa? I was pretty sure I recognised her!

Anonymous benconservato said ... (5:03 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:18 AM) :

what a style

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:25 AM) :

oh i'm so proud of my fellow aussie!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:28 AM) :

Three very simple elements donned without embellishment--no handbag, no scarf, no jewelry to "pull the look together". At this moment in time, young Ella looks totally comfortable in her own skin. Brava!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:31 AM) :

what a babe.

Blogger Sushi said ... (8:32 AM) :

Love the mix of stripes and checks x Sushi

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:45 AM) :

So pretty! Reminds me of the general style here in NYC at Barnard College.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:25 PM) :

yes, the more grown up version of hipster. i'm not mad at that at all.

Blogger KONSHONCHLOE said ... (1:40 PM) :

COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL OUTFITT, me encanta !!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:10 PM) :

1:47. behind the curve? perhaps you just don't get it. Different country, different style. Which makes the world a bit more interesting no? Aussies have the repuation of being laidback and its hardly surprising this national characteristic is reflected in fashion.

Blogger Bronka said ... (3:14 PM) :

it's absolutely perfect.

Blogger Unknown said ... (3:32 PM) :

i like how the two patterns go with eachother, the stripes the checker-ish coat

Blogger Unknown said ... (3:34 PM) :

yes shoes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:35 PM) :

This picture is so wonderful.
Its so dreamy like.

Love how she works the different patterns and the fit is perfect for her body type. She is so cool but without that Im trying to be cool stance that some folk have

Blogger Joy Mars said ... (12:59 PM) :

The hard lines of her checks and stripes -- and then the squiggles of her hair. It all holds together.
