I love her hair and this shirt-dress...

Anonymous Thomas said ... (9:09 AM) :

She looks great, as does Sao Paulo! The shirt looks almost reflective.

Blogger Bahrain Fashion said ... (9:11 AM) :

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (9:14 AM) :

Gorgeous photo!
Love her shirt-dress!

Anonymous Juliana said ... (9:15 AM) :

Being from Brazil I find it hard to believe that you just found this lady walking around on those clothes... even in Sao Paulo, where people tend to dress a little better than in Rio for example...but, well, I guess you did! I don't live in Brazil right now, but every time I go back and wear something a little more fashionable on the street I feel like an alien from another planet, Brazilians still have a lot to learn about fashion! I feel the potential though, we'll get there!!
Maybe this lady is starting it all, who knows!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:20 AM) :

If you want to hit the heart of every Brazilian, take a photo of a girl on the Corner of Ipiranga St. and Sao Joao Ave.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:20 AM) :

wow--most stunning woman I've seen on here... and she's doing it in a flannel shirt dress...

i'm digging the touch of light, summer with the red polka dot scarf to contrast the dark color and workman/boyfriend feel of the dress.

Blogger thebelljarbird said ... (12:06 PM) :

If you told us this was Paris...I would believe you. This woman exudes pure feminine sexuality, in a very subtle way. The washed out effect from the lighting is gorgeous in contrast to her dark silhouette.

Anonymous Carol said ... (12:09 PM) :

Great looks! Beautiful picture. Just wish I could see the outfit better, I really like it. I must agree with Juliana, whenever I try to wear something a bit different/ more stylish here in Brazil I kinda feel like an alien.. We are too classic and "belt matching shoes", in general.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:13 PM) :

fess up scott! you just wanted an excuse to stop and talk to her.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:51 PM) :

I live in São Paulo. To me this is the perfect example of the Brazilian jet setter, very Eurocentric, and not Brazilian at all. The São Paulo style has more colors and is creative, funky, young, beautiful and even a little bit misplaced. Please, Scott, don´t stay only in Jardins. Go to Vila Madalena and Baixo Augusta too.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:58 PM) :

I am sorry, but I don´t see style or a high sense of fashion. I think that she´s wearing what everybody is wearing right now, since the grunge is back. Besides that, I don´t think that looking like Paris is something nice. We were all expecting to see something different in Brazil, not Paris or New York style.

Anonymous Katie said ... (5:05 PM) :

Blogger noelakadjtambour said ... (6:39 PM) :

i thought the light in australia was superb but this first sao paolo picture is out of this world. as if the beautiful woman need more shimmery light effect to surround her...magical!

Blogger Paolo Manaloto said ... (6:56 PM) :

I always knew the best women are from Brasil.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:58 PM) :

I ADORE THE LIGHT IN THIS PICTURE!! :)

Blogger laura said ... (6:58 PM) :

oh she's gooooorgeous! look at her hair, ugh, so jealous.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:16 PM) :

To be honest this isn't fair - you could put her in a burlap sack or plastic garbage bag, and she would still look sexy and good.

Blogger erin nuts said ... (7:54 PM) :

From the comments I guess I'm almost alone in this, but honestly I was kind of bored - she is certainly beautiful, but she just looks...cute. Anybody could put that outfit together. It's nice, but without the special flair that most of your subjects have. And on top of that, there's nothing that really says BRASIL to me (except maybe the cleavage haha). But, it is a beautiful photo, she's gorgeous.

Anonymous emimimi said ... (8:23 PM) :

beautiful lighting!

those lips are oh so sexy

Blogger Cynthia said ... (8:49 PM) :

Someone, please explain to me why "fashionable" women must pose their legs this way. She looks knock-kneed.

Blogger NaT said ... (9:03 PM) :

She is realy beautiful!! But is so hard to find a girl like that here....

Blogger magicmaia said ... (9:19 PM) :

So stylish, she looks great! love it!

Blogger Bookworm said ... (9:47 PM) :

This is my ideal outfit! Love the plaid, love the glasses and the scarf on the bag, the boots....she is so effortlessly gorgeous! This is my favorite casual outfit on this site so far. Great choice!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:27 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:37 PM) :

interesting, you rarely choose to show cleavage. this photo is an exception.

I think it's your photo that really stands out here. Good lighting, great shot.

Blogger I'm a mean street kid. said ... (10:49 PM) :

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (11:17 PM) :

I don't notice what she is or isn't wearing. This is all about that look in her eye and the superb back-lighting. Sexy.

Blogger Itsaprada said ... (11:29 PM) :

The rest of the world thinks that brazil is just beautiful woman with small bikinis... this girl represents a other side of brazilian style! The world needs to look to brazil with others eyes.

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (11:45 PM) :

I love the flares in this picture. And this lovely brazilian girl is extremely gorgeous.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:09 AM) :

she's gorgeous but those pigeon-toes ruin it! She practiced that pose in the mirror a few too many times, and it spoils the otherwise effortless grace of the whole look.

sao paulo is great, Florainaopolis is super. forget about sao paulo, every "paulista" with some good taste have a house in florianopolis.

She is realy great, but here in the south (santa catarina) whe have the most beautiful girls in brasil... take your time, get a plane and come here... florianopolis, porto alegre, and every little city in the south... we have the most amazing girls in the ***** world.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:26 AM) :

It's all in the fit of her boots. The narrowing and the flair. Quite beautiful, really.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:59 AM) :

It's a real pitty, Juliana, that you think Brazil has a lot to learn about fashion. I'm a Brazilian myself, and have been living abroad for a couple of years now, in different countries. I believe that each place has its own quirkyness, and so does Brazil. I don't feel like I'm from another planet when I visit my country because I don't try to wear the same things I'd wear in London, for example. I love the Brazilian style. I love the fact that girls in Sao Paulo look great with little makeup, a nice pair of jeans, white t-shirt, great shoes (or even Havaianas) and a bold accessory. I love the lively colorful outfits from Rio, and also North, Northeast. And I strongly believe Brazil has a lot to offer in terms of fashion creativity. I do see your point though and agree that it's kind of hard to find a girl like that wandering the streets of Sao Paulo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:22 AM) :

Great shot...but girls, enough with the pigeon-toes already, ok? This one is going a little far.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:27 AM) :

Great image! We have a special way to be fashion in Brasil (I don't like to write Brasil with "z") and our people like to wear confortable, informal and interesting clothes. I don't know Vittorio St. in São Paulo, where I live, but the girl looks like a beautiful brazilian.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:53 AM) :

...the little fairy that resides in her right palm has peeked out for the opportunity to also represent Sao Paulo...

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:54 AM) :

Blogger Virginia de la Reynares said ... (12:15 PM) :

Blogger secondvurss said ... (12:24 PM) :

very comfortable look, she looks very pretty and natural.

Anonymous Annelise said ... (12:32 PM) :

I particulally didn't like the girl's style. It doesn't stand out like some of the other pictures found here, that were taken by Mr. Sartorialist. Like one of the comments said before anyone could have put that outfit together. I feel sad to think that this is the most original look on the streets of Brazil...

Blogger Winter Jefferson said ... (12:51 PM) :

Her face is so radiant, I almost didn't notice what she was wearing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:37 PM) :

such womanly sexiness confused by a child's pigeon toed posture.

Blogger djaniquinn said ... (2:40 PM) :

She is sooo my type. My heart is breaking. I think it's the cleavage that really does it for me. In my opinion, cleavage never goes out of style. ; )

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:44 PM) :

I can't agree more Winter... she is so... so... I just can't find the right thing to say about she... Amazing.

Ps: You FINALLY put Brasil on the screen! See what we can offer?! Take 30 min of your day in Sao Paulo and stay on Av. Paulista: you'll see amazing things!

Blogger Maya Pinsky said ... (4:30 PM) :

As Brazilian and paulista (from Sao Paulo) I was curious to see your view from my city as I consider you an elegant person with great stile view. I was truly disappointed for your choice of place and character. Sao paulo is a great city with a huge variety of "fashion victims". Free yourself and enjoy.

And, non-sardonically, yes, she is a very beautiful woman.

GORGEOUS photo. The lighting!
These 'street shots' belong in a museum.

Since I like in Chicago, I would seriously love to see your work in the Art Institute's new Renzo Piano Modern Wing.

You and Catherine Opie deserve a show!

Blogger chris said ... (1:56 PM) :

She is a beautiful person.

The outfit however, to me, is the modern day uniform. I see in some form or another daily in my neighborhood of Mile End in Montreal. In other words, she looks nice, but I find the outfit boring.

chris.

Anonymous Vanessa said ... (5:05 PM) :

First, I just wanted to say that I believe Brazil has a great sense of fashion! For the Brazilians that commented otherwise, I don't where you live, but I've been living in the United States for a the past 8 years, and every time I go to Brazil I can convinced that regular Brazilians dress much better than regular Americans do.

C´mon people, it´s almost winter in Brasil, she´s not boiling in these boots!
Haven´t you learn in school that when it´s summer in Northern Hemisphere it´s winter in Southern Hemisphere?

Great picture, great girl! Love everything about it.

I have to disagree when people say that when we decide to wear fashionable clothes in Sao Paulo people look us like aliens.
It use to happen with me, 5 or 10 wears ago. Now its very normal.
This look of the picture seems very normal to me. Very beautiful pic. Its calm, and she has life in her eyes.

I love the way she looked so natural! =) NIce sun glasses and boots!!

So funny to see so many passionate Brazilians commenting on here - I'm one of them. I'm also glad it's been cleared up that it's WINTER in Brazil now. And although it doesn't get as cold as it does in other places, women use the chillier weather as an excuse to wear warmer clothing, like boots! Proving that yes, they are fashionable.

I don't know why so many people just assume that this shot and this girl are supposed to be some sort of representation of fashion in Brazil. Why not just see it as a great picture? People in Sao Paulo are some of the best dressed in Brazil, similar to other big cities around the world. It would be interesting to see the more casual look of people in Rio.

Since I'm brazilian and I'm from Curitiba and I loooove Santa Catarina, I really think that you should come to see the beauty of the south. Juliana said that when we dress something fashionable, people think we are aliens, this is not true. If everyone think what other will think about what we are dressing, we will never grow. People used to look at us like aliens when I was 7, but now I am 18 and fashion is almost everything for me and most of people that I know. The point is dont worry if someone thinks you're an alien, just because you are dressing something that is not what everyone dresses. This is the problem of Brazil, always thinking in what others will think of you. C'mon people, lets change our minds and if we are more classical than other countries, great this is brazilian's style, like France, Australia, USA and all other countries has there own style, we dont need to copy them. Lets be happy with us and forget a little bit of others opinion???

Oh, my. Some people here seems to be not aware that temperature in São Paulo can be really low.
She is just fine with the boots.
And yes, I agree with Carolina about "aliens" in SP.
This kind of remark is so yesterday.

Real Brazilian women wear clothes that look like they were made nowhere else. Brazil has a very strong intra-country garmento industry. I love looking at "ordinary" women there and what they've got on because even the smallest accessories absolutely do not look like anything you ever see in the States.

I cannot say that about this pic.

Blogger Orkun said ... (4:06 PM) :

She may have been beautiful, but the shoot made her divine.

Blogger Vivi said ... (6:15 PM) :

Even though it is fall here, it's still hot and yeah she must be suffering with these boots. This is something I don't like here. People use scarfs and boots even when it is 20C!

Blogger Elisa said ... (6:27 PM) :
