Ah, the guayabera shirt. Always a classic. And those pockets are amazing! I especially like the jaunty hat.

Thanks doll,
The Glamorous Housewife

Ah! A completely wearable summer outfit. I have never been able to pull off the hankie around the neck but it works for him. Great picture! Jorge from WPB

Anonymous Antonio Barros said ... (10:04 AM) :

I like his hat but I'm not sure about the shirt....

the singular

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:05 AM) :

Saigon retro style... the shirt fatigue pants persols under the hat.

I expect to see him crouched buy the wall of the US embassy with teh Marine guards as he draws a .45 on a grainy black and white TV film.

Blogger Cristi Silva said ... (10:07 AM) :

Love it! pen in pocket, the bracelet shows a different side than his clothes. and the tie.... so rad!

Blogger Rafe New York said ... (10:14 AM) :

Cool chap! If my grandfather were still alive today, this is how he would dress.

No. Army shorts should only be the realm of construction workers. I used to be one and they used to look good on me whilst toiling. Step out of a site and I used to don my bestest threads. There's a time and place for everything. Clearly the gentleman doesn't have a watch and is probably lost.

I love looking at styles from all over the world, but being a native NY-er, i just love when you do the streets of NY. Always intriguing!

Blogger MOD PAUL said ... (10:28 AM) :

Careful there my son don't let your fountain pen leak on your nice white Guayabera. That would be most tragic. Kind of urban meets island. Nice shot...

Blogger taryn said ... (10:30 AM) :

Feeling the kerchief! Also comes in handy for the occasional face swipe down that is so necessary on these muggy NY summer days.... Come on you've done it!

I also like the nifty pocket pen.. He looks like a man with a plan of sorts.... where is he off to? Hmm I'm intrigued.

xx

Ahh the sexy urban dentist, I am smiling already!

Blogger Little Lovables said ... (10:36 AM) :

he looks quite comfortable in his skin. I love the combination

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:39 AM) :

Perfection.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:00 AM) :

Looks like he's just tryin' to beat the heat. Love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:05 AM) :

He looks soooo coooool

Blogger hc said ... (11:06 AM) :

chief, hat, shades, pen, bracelet. two accessories too many.

that said, the gaucheness of cargo shorts turn playful when smartly contrasted with a structured top.

Blogger Kristen said ... (11:09 AM) :

Hmmm I'm not feeling the shorts. Sweet hat though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:14 AM) :

the hat and shirt nod toward a more dressed up summer look however, those shorts are in total disagreement and make the outfit much less special - not a well considered look.

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (11:15 AM) :

There is something appealing about a white shirt and khaki pants in Summer.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:31 AM) :

ah, looking at him makes me feel cooler (temperature wise) already!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:33 AM) :

It's a great summer outfit and his accessories are just perfect. Wish I could see the bottom part of the outfit. Are these shorts or pants? Also wondering what shoes he's wearing.

Anonymous style odyssey said ... (11:52 AM) :

i like the personal way he's styled that shirt. i've never seen a guayabera shirt made so stylish.

Anonymous Carey said ... (11:58 AM) :

Anyone know where to get a nice guayabera in NYC?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:28 PM) :

he looks like a slightly older version of my husband! very typical asian summer look. my spouse might have made the neckerchief a dash of color, though.

Blogger Simo said ... (12:35 PM) :

i would wear the hat without the sunglasses
its a bit too much!!

the rest looks perfect on him

Blogger Ms. B @ Millie Deel said ... (1:45 PM) :

Yay for guayaberas! Love them!

xoxo

Blogger Takeshi said ... (1:49 PM) :

Wow, what a badass.

Anonymous Xristopher said ... (1:55 PM) :

The neckerchief is a nice touch.

I have to say, after spending a few months at the Sartorialist, I started wearing one every so often. My wife likes it and, interestingly, older ladies smile at me and wave. It's like they are having a moment of historic recall.

Thanks Scott.

Anonymous Margo said ... (2:01 PM) :

love the top half - not the cargo shorts. those and flip flops are so tacky in my opinion.
love the little shot of pattern in the hatband. so sharp.

Blogger Miguel said ... (2:37 PM) :

Living in the Caribbean I wear guayaberas all the time but I wonder if I look that cool!

Blogger Alvin said ... (2:49 PM) :

loving the hat sir.

Blogger The Chukker said ... (2:52 PM) :

This gentlemans is showing a very smart way to dress in this torrid weather, without losing elegance.

Where my Mother is from, Panama, we call this the Panamanian shirt. Comfortable and great for the hot weather. My Uncles wear these shirts all the time.

Anonymous Emma Howard said ... (2:58 AM) :

He could be a nice guy from Pahoa, wearing his going-out-shirt and best slippers just going to catch a flick at the Akebano Theatre.

Blogger shimcho said ... (3:24 AM) :

it's so refreshing to see that people at his age still care about fashion... it's fashion art... he looks cool, literally and "fashionally"...

Blogger alastair said ... (4:09 AM) :

Sorry, not feeling this one at all!
The shorts are nasty, there's too much going on with the accessories and I have to admit I'm not a fan of the shirt either!

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:20 AM) :

wow! style on its highest level...

Anonymous Wow Gold said ... (5:29 AM) :

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:20 AM) :

Good photo - I can almost feel the cold coolness of the crisp white shirt.

Neckerchiefs look cool and are so practical, wish more fellas would wear them:)

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:42 AM) :

~effortlessly stylish. u can never go wrong with white tone aura on clothes, regardless of age and preference. i think what made the man noticeable is how he managed to accesorize paleness - from the details of the shirt, the pen on pocket, scarf, and the sytlish headgear.

Anonymous Zach said ... (10:24 AM) :

That shirt is fantastic!

Anonymous Char said ... (12:07 PM) :

The Guayabera shirt is a classic that will never go out of style, if a man knows how to wear it. I love it.

Anonymous Dreamer in Canada said ... (1:07 PM) :

Don't have to much to say about this one, as I can see from the comments your audience is torn on their opinion. I think the photograph is nice, but mostly, I just really like the hat :)

Blogger Joyce said ... (3:58 PM) :

He looks so smooth!

Anonymous all-in-the-silhouette said ... (11:08 AM) :

He looks cool and comfortable in a casually chic way.

I grew up in Texas and Mexico, and my grandfather had an amazing collection of guayaberas.

Anonymous holly said ... (10:20 PM) :

I think he's sporting a great summer time look~I adore his hat it has a cool quirky shape, I would love to have one just like it. He has great style going on

Anonymous wow gold said ... (8:37 AM) :

Blogger lefthand gilliam henderson said ... (2:00 PM) :

i'm still trying to get the tied scarf look down properly. still trying to tie the scarf properly, one. lol. old ladies do it the best, though, and coordinate it quite lovely... so i've seen.

Anonymous michelle said ... (9:20 PM) :

<3 this. reminds me of my lolo. :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:12 PM) :

From the neck up he's rocking. He could be an extra from "What's Up, Tiger Lily". But, like an earlier poster said, the cargo shorts are not in keeping w/ the theme.

Blogger jessica said ... (7:47 AM) :

love the mix.
