That trench!! That trench!!
I must have it!!
Fabulous!

Anonymous UrbanRagg said ... (12:26 PM) :

This only works because everything is so consistently mismatched. She almost broke the consistency with the angle pattern on her socks almost matching the angle pattern on her skirt. And the fact that his neon shoes are too similar to her neon jacket . . .

Otherwise . . . it works.

Blogger Sassy Sue said ... (12:30 PM) :

I want that purse. Anyone have any ideas who makes it?

Blogger Robyn said ... (12:55 PM) :

I adore those blue shoes! So shiny and bright~

The patterns on her stockings and coat work really well together too.

Blogger Rena said ... (1:09 PM) :

Wow! very good, very nice!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:17 PM) :

This is something that you really don't get a chance to see often in New York. COLOR!! It's cold here, and the theme this winter seems to be gray's, blacks, and neutral colors. These two would stick out, and rightly so. Beautiful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:30 PM) :

Blogger jack bespoke said ... (1:44 PM) :

EXPLOSION OF COLOR, looks haphazardly beautiful

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:51 PM) :

First time to this site. Very nice. These people you shoot on the street are friends, right? Or they are pre-arranged? If not your luck is amazing. The pictures are lovely-very smart to shoot in flat light all the time.
LIke the couple as a concept-it's hard to find a mate with the same fashion sense-maybe she dresses him? Or the reverse? She's got too much going on-reminds me of Edina Monsoon. Love him. Love men in those transparent glasses.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:52 PM) :

A round of applause for this couple is due. The abundance of colour and textures is extremely intriguing. However, his shoes deflect attention from his whole look and her VW bag is a tad too dominant! His opaque fleet street esq specs and her orange mac are immense!

Anonymous Edgar C said ... (1:57 PM) :

A chameleon would explode

Blogger alexandra biddell said ... (1:58 PM) :

I need to know WHERE those shoes came from!

Blogger kimricosays said ... (2:09 PM) :

i love how the colors on her dress go right into her tights.

and the pop of color on the man's shoes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:12 PM) :

She is pulling it off better than he is... though I wish her hair was "up." I do like his shoes, but the shirt is a bit of a stretch.

Blogger Ash said ... (2:21 PM) :

the upper parts of her tights match her dress and the lower parts match the shoes.

but oh god how i just hate that vivienne westwood bag!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:30 PM) :

She's got entirely too much going on, not unlike the little girl caught playing in mommy's closets. Not flattering, no matter what country she's from.
He needs to lose the shoes; otherwise, I applaud his quirkiness/personal style.

Blogger Mom Fashion World said ... (2:35 PM) :

i love their outfits!

i see that clashing is still cool.

Blogger Laurence John said ... (2:38 PM) :

plus, they look strangely familiar.

Anonymous Lucia said ... (2:44 PM) :

So British eccentric! Great! Even If I would never dress like that myself, and I am not so fond of bthat much colors in the same outfit, but they look happy, and make other ppl happy with all that color.

Blogger Joy Mars said ... (3:10 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:18 PM) :

Colorful and eccentric couple

Blogger Maggie said ... (3:35 PM) :

This is what I hate about fashion...costuming and just plain tring too hard to be "different". What happened to "efortless dressing"? I see these two and I want to run for a pair of sweats.

Blogger Unknown said ... (3:50 PM) :

I think I would love to go where they are going. I love his glasses and her use of diamond figures in her outfit. This is England but they don't look British to me.

Comment at 9:19am made me laugh out loud- they certainly do capture "alternate reality chic," which someone else points out also= English eccentric and for those of us who don't quite get it HOT MESS-

I'm sure if you separated their outfits there are good pieces in there, but together, it's just a loud jumble.

I understand why you too their photo, but it truly does not "do it" for me.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:21 PM) :

I can't believe this pair made The Sartorialist. They are just another hipster couple trying too hard to stand out and have intentionally made themselves look much older than they probably are. As for them looking "so London", go to any major city in N. America and you will see far too many people dressed exactly like this. It's not chic, it's not sophisticated, it's trendy and tiring.

Blogger Maria del Mar said ... (6:29 PM) :

...Congratulations for this picture...100% Originals!!:-)

Blogger Laarni said ... (6:35 PM) :

It´s not really a style I would warmly recommend to somebody, on top of that this guy reminds me of Ned Flanders from the Simpsons.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:12 PM) :

hmmm, maybe something aggressively child-like about this one, a sort of faux-naive, faux-post-ironic look.

on the one hand, you have to admire the commitment to a singular vision. on the other hand, it's a thin line between fashion and costume, and not interesting when you cross it. just in time for halloween?

oh well, it's a free country and god save the queen. not feeling this look, but thanks for the food for thought, sartorialist.

Sorry, they are not British. They are Icelandic. Weather you like them or not !

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:14 AM) :

what are these incedible shoes she's wearing??

Blogger junglesiren said ... (8:37 AM) :

my first thought upon seeing them is that they look nordic. Not just their physical features but those clothes. Norwegians, Swedes, Icelanders tend to dig that Dr. Seuss aesthetic. Someone above mentioned that they are Icelandic. But of course they are.

It's entertaining and certainly not boring and I assume they've got some kind of fun event to attend but otherwise, as two people walking down the street it brings to mind adults who escaped from the mental hospital and broke into a thrift store selling old Cirque du soleil apparel.

Yeah, they're cute ad adorable and I like that they've got real personal style and all that but really.... they look a little looney tunes.... not that there's anything wrong with that.

I have to admit I was rather bemused by so many people calling this pair "British eccentric". I don't know how any other Brits here feel, but from my experience, the 'British eccentric' is not necessarily just "hot mess" as someone before me said.
This couple are indeed eccentric, but far too trendy to be British!

However, to hear they are Icelandic makes a lot more sense to me! haha!

Blogger Giselle said ... (11:17 AM) :

From any of the style blogs I've seen from Iceland, I get the impression that so many Icelanders have very unique looks, and are not afraid to mix colours and patterns. This couple looks like they would be very interesting to talk to.

Love to see proper colors here! Was getting a bit tired of the subdued/black/neutral colors theme. How refreshing!
Those two are certainly not boring or afraid when it comes to dressing (as I suspect many readers are with regard to prior comments)

Yet another reason I should never have left Iceland. These two are the embodiment of everything there is to love about mankind.

For some reason I though of Mama Cass when i saw this photo!
The clothes are reminiscent of the 70s but have a very chic, cool twist at the same time.

This seems like such a mish-mash of clothing but, amazingly, it all works!
