She is really beautifull! I loved her style. Post more pictures of her. Today: Rio is 40ºC

Anonymous lucia said ... (7:31 AM) :

This is the same girl as before, right? I must say that this is a style that I am not into at all, but I don't say she isn't stunning and beautiful, cos she really is. I just don't like that much mixed colors, and I never got why wear a leather bag with floral prints and sandals.. I know it might be my "issue" but I like leather bags in winter time and with beachy clothes I would wear a canvas bag or no bag at all.. :)

Thanks! Love your blog!

Great photo of a woman in necessary action: preventing earring failure. Is that was she is doing? I think the scarf + hat is a bit of overkill but the rest is beautiful.

ok ok , not many people can afford a kelly...and two (three, four, five...)? :) well, good good look above all for the shirt, it can be very elegant.

Anonymous Magnus said ... (9:22 AM) :

You got any pictures of any proper winter-wear (snow-cold, minus celsius)? Awesome pictures anyhow.

It would be cool if you could add some info to the pictures about the origin of some of the clothing, the materials etc, to the extent which you discuss it with your subjects, it would give some more food for-thought.

Have a nice day

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:10 AM) :

This is not a Kelly dear, it is a Birkin. But the bag doen't matter, the girl knows how to wear different things, and she is BEAUTIFUL!!!! Do you have more pictures of her???

Anonymous sanmiguelense said ... (10:10 AM) :

Compare and contrast the barbershop below with the turquoise Hermes bag here! They are the same color--but worlds apart! That, of course, raises the moral dilemma--is it okay to display ostentatious wealth in a country like Brazil? Is it ever ok, anyway-whether you're a bored Olsen shopping in Beverly Hills or a nouveau riche socialite being busy doing charity work?

The only time a Birkin works for me is when it is carried by its namesake! And she was the inspiration because she used to carry around a wicker basket!

Anonymous E Knight said ... (10:12 AM) :

Seems she has a Birkin in every color to match every outfit :P Aside from the it-bag-ness, she's adorable! I want that skirt and the whole thing looks totally fresh.

Blogger Beth said ... (10:15 AM) :

Blogger CW said ... (10:17 AM) :

Great look. Think the hankie-head is redundant if she wears the hat.

Blogger Rob Boddice said ... (10:17 AM) :

Again with the ungainly bag. This one looks like it's trying to pull her over. But otherwise she looks stunning, and the hat is just fabulous.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:35 AM) :

have to say I'm not in love with this one. She is stunning, with an inner glow, but the combination is unfortunate; especially the hat and scarf combo. The hat is too big and the scarf, bulky. I love your blog though!

Blogger Jorge from W Palm Beach said ... (10:35 AM) :

You know, you often see the Hermes bag in jean color as a contrasting item in an outfit, but she integrates it so well by wearing the same color on her clothes. It is refreshing that she matches it with a v casual shirt and scarf (?) as if to say, "I carry this bag all the time" which they should for all the money they cost. Jorge from WPB

ps.: Is there any place hotter than Rio? I mean it is 45 degres out there!

Blogger Nathalia Peixoto said ... (12:29 PM) :

I love Joana Nolasco... She is simple one of the most fabulous girl in Rio.
But I am not here to talk about Joana style!
I am curious about how much of the whole world the reader who said Joana it's crazy to wear a Hermés bag in Brasil!
I would say something to you: Here we have hungry, theath, murders... Like any other coutry and the world. But the idea of being stolen, it's not about the bag. Afterall, this poor souls that have no money to feed theamselfs do not have any idea of how much it cost this bag!
I've been robbed in London.. And my mom was kidnaped leaving a bank in Manhattan and left in Harlem without a penny in the pocket to get a subway. In Rio though, we never, EVER, got stolen!
It's just bad luck! And can happen all around the world!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:38 PM) :

Simply love the Prada resort scarf skirt especially with summery wedges and simple white tank. However you don't need a scarf on the head when you are wearing it translated into a skirt..the hat alone would've been much sexier with tousled beach hair. I love Hermes as much as anyone but a canvas/leather version would've been amazing and not so predictable esp with the straw hat.......

Blogger jkh said ... (2:46 PM) :

i hope her birkins are fake

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:54 PM) :

Lovely skirt, love the colours!
But: two pictures, two Hermes, twice a carré used as a headscarf. Too much (or too obvious) , maybe?
Plus, how can you wear both a headscarf and a hat when it's 38C?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:57 PM) :

The blue in the bag, with the blue details in the skirt... Awesome! I too can not wait for more pictures of this 'Joana'!

Anonymous Kate said ... (2:58 PM) :

Joana is now my new style icon and Rio de Janeiro is now my new dream destinantion - maybe for the World Soccer Cup...

Blogger hbomb73 said ... (2:59 PM) :

I love the outfit - the colour combinations are perfect - the hat and scarf is fresh and pops the outfit up a notch the way a scarf alone wouldn't have. I cant put my finger on what is wrong with the shoes though, they jar....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:09 PM) :

want to tell Lucia who commented up there.
i do not see the colors are mixed too much.
and also, if she brought canvas bag with her dress, it might be just normal.
the fact that she brought something that cannot easily be chosen makes her special.
: )

I am loving the discussion of the scarf with the chapeau. I always understood that the scarf was a necessary accompaniment to the hat and that it is a sartorial statement. I also believe it is not easy to pull of such a look. I think this woman works it!

i like the hat, the headband, the bag and the skirt.
but to combine all those together seems like she was trying too hard.

i like this website cos it captured and proved that girls dont need to tote a birkin bag everytime everywhere to show that she have style cos not everybody in this world is blessed to have even one birkin bag.

and looking at her pics with diff color of birkin just turn me off.

I am getting really inspired by her use of color!! I think grey, drab cities like Seattle could use a boost of color through clothing!

I agree with a few others... If you you are wearing a represented scarf as a skirt, no need for an additional one on your head. However, i think the colors are brilliant! Miuccia captured the ideal tropical vacay! I do think that the silhouette could enhance the body a little better, however, not everyone can look like Agyness Deyn

Love love love Joana, but the bag is misplaced giving the outfit a nouveau riche/BLING tone or "I raided my mom's closet", which I know it is not the case with Joanissima.
LURVE the skirt and her necklace!
Mil beijos.

sure she is beautiful, but not like brazilians girls at all! She's too fashion foward, seems to me that she's only dressed like this to "perform" at´Fashion Rio... Btu i really like the Carmem Miranda style!

no wonder see has a second Birkin...they wear so little clothes and mostly sandals they don't have to spend money on anything else. for example a good cashmere coat, or a pair of leather boots are def out of the question...

My husband often tells me when we look at this site not to overanalyze the details; look at the overall image and decide if it speaks to you. I have to agree with him on this one. Some things get lost in the details here but the combination of blue/ orange/ white is so fresh, so south american summer that they should put her in tourism ads for Brazil.

Channeling her inner Carmen Miranda!

On a side note, I have never ever seen a Birkin bag in Rio, not even in the streets of Ipanema or trendy restaurants of Leblon!
