Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:24 AM) :

It's a Benglas jacket

Blogger céci said ... (9:26 AM) :

What a man! seems like a king of Somalia. A stunning beauty.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:29 AM) :

This fellow has much ELAN (flair)--does not matter what this man has on--its all about how he wears it. The hat for comfort; the jacket--the same--but adds some color that pulls in the scarf. The jacket and slack are climate correct but add much civility to this gent's look. Makes you wonder what was on his mind as he got dressed for this morning. But really--literally and figuratively--were the lights on?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:32 AM) :

Cincinnati Bengals jacket BTW.

Blogger no-more-wire-hangers said ... (9:33 AM) :

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:37 AM) :

I love this. He wears it with such elan. The jacket is so classic and sophisticated and elevates the whole outfit. He seems to have an amazing pin on his hat which matches as well! This fellow has a real sense of style.

Cincinnati Bengals windbreaker

Anonymous xris said ... (11:07 AM) :

Shanty chic. Solid.

Anonymous Michael1style said ... (11:18 AM) :

This shot epitomizes the fact that the core of style comes from with in. A Chicago Bears jacket under a navy blue blazer? Come now, most would look like WTF!? But this dashing young brother makes it look "easy like a Sunday morning."

I too think a different direction with the head gear would have been more effective.

Anonymous Sabrina said ... (11:23 AM) :

Oh yes, that is a Chicago Bears windbreaker. I have never seen one look so stylish...and as a life long Chicagoan, I have seen a LOT of these jackets. Fans of Da Bears should take a lesson!

As if it would matter what he wears! He is too gorgeous.

So he can take all the risks. The cool thing is, of course, that he actually does. He dares. He pushes it. And it works. It's totally his.

Anonymous Mickey Kennedy said ... (12:20 PM) :

Good grief-Who is this? So stylish and young. It's really scary that he can effortlessly pull this look off. Sart, please promise you will post more pics of him in the future.Amazing.

Blogger beths said ... (12:35 PM) :

I love that he's handsome and does not play it safe. The hat's angle is perfect, suggesting a fez or crown. And the red wouldn't work (I don't think) without the orange setting it up from below. I enjoy seeing this perfect navy DB toyed with, and yet respected as a great piece.

Blogger Joy Mars said ... (12:39 PM) :

Yeah, I agree with the previous poster. This guy really pushes the envelope—successfully!
But it's easy to get away with the wildest risks when you're handsome and thin.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:40 PM) :

I can't get past the beautiful face.

Anonymous darlene said ... (12:40 PM) :

Like his outfit too - sort of has an old world charm about it. I also like how he sports his "bling" in the picture (on hand).

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:23 PM) :

Okay, I'll settle this once and for all. Everyone knows that the Bears wear navy and the Bengals wear black. Also, the letters on the jacket are clearly "E" and "N". G'head...blow it up.

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:32 AM) :

I adore this.

Especially that ring, which I want to steal. And he's a very beautiful man. And the way the colours echo is great.

So too is the swenka vibe I'm getting.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:18 AM) :

High marks for creativity, although think anything would look good on this guy's frame and under that handsome face.

I know that what he's wearing would definitely not look good on someone with a beer gut. In other words, on most male baseball fans.

Anonymous J'me elle Austria said ... (3:25 AM) :

awesome combo!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:16 AM) :

No, not Eddie Murphy!! This is truly royal, dignified. He must have it somewhere in his genes.

It's funny isn't it that he has taken bits and pieces of quite ordinary pieces of clothing and made it all his own? This is real style.

And what a beautiful young man. I wonder who he is?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:55 AM) :

love the colors and textures! gorgeous.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:03 AM) :

Anonymous cordelia said ... (12:21 PM) :

Blogger SONGMAKER said ... (2:00 PM) :

@ Kagitsune

[sigh]

How is this man "gangsta" in any way shape or form?
Are we looking at the same photograph?

Anyway . . .

I was wondering, Scott: What'd the button he has pinned on his hat say?
Do you remember?
I just wonder if the button provided a curiously succinct caption to his entire ensemble or to his mood that day, especially since he seems to know how to pick his accessories.

Blogger Cláudia [ACV] said ... (3:08 PM) :

Great shot, Scott. It conveys one of the most interesting, complex looks you've posted here.
This young man's layering tells a lot about who is. Other commenters already pointed to the blazer and jacket symbolism, to the scarf printing, and I don't believe the red hat is random either: it's just a guess, but I think he is wearing it to pay tribute to his 'balanta' ancestors, an ancient ethnic group from Western Africa.

Blogger Mervat said ... (6:22 PM) :

A cool & casual African King. Nothing phases him, but nothing.

Blogger Sancho Penser said ... (5:08 AM) :

Blogger RJ said ... (4:58 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:59 PM) :

I am too intrigued by his fashion genius. I keep returning to this pic and the comments for the following: The ring, the little bracelets peaking out, his swag, the comments about his dress being the personification of the African diaspora. Your blog is a unique art form. Sigh, to know and love this man.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:24 PM) :

I just got back Kenya and what I love about the Samburu tribesmen is that they're the ones who wear the beaded bracelets and necklaces. The men wear beautiful colors up against their dark skin and it looks gorgeous, not effeminiate at all.

I think this young man pulls off the same effect with the simple but artful use of scarves.

Anonymous amelie said ... (7:57 PM) :

He is so handsome...

and the combination of colours is great!

Blogger Mr Sartorial said ... (12:53 AM) :

only in NY, i just love the mix between an african woman and a english dandy from the 60's

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:58 AM) :

Lovely guy! The scarf is sooo perfect! Really lights him up.

Blogger 82Brute said ... (10:07 AM) :

I have to assume he's a model--people this gorgeous don't just wander around New York undiscovered. Anyway, I love the global styling of this outfit. He could be anywhere, Nairobi, London, Harvard Yard. He looks like an African prince on his way to a cricket match, or perhaps a grad student waiting for his date. Change out the baseball jacket and the scarf for a Brooks Brothers shirt and an Hermes tie and he's ready for a Wall Street power meeting. I love the hat and the jaunty angle of it. Wouldn't change a thing. I'm sufficiently charmed.

Blogger DIGITAL SUTRAS said ... (2:19 PM) :

Go with your gut! I think its a Chicago Bears Jacket under a blazer, scarf, wool pants, hat, killing it!

I like what appears to be youth soccer jersey under that blazer. funny!

Blogger Öe said ... (4:48 PM) :

Anonymous Kellye said ... (2:29 PM) :
