On the Street.... Gianluca Bocache, Rome

Finally I found A great mens shop in Rome!

Run by Gianluca Bocache (above) and Andrea Luparelli, the shop is super chic and specializes in custom suits and shoes. I hate to admit it but I always judge a shop by the owners and these guys are cool. I love a peak lapel suit, however the question is always one or two-button. I always go peak with one-button but I'm swayed by Gianluca's two-button swagger.

Unfortuneately my shooting schedule in Rome was so tight (made worse by the never ending rain) I wasn't able to shoot the shop but it will give me a reason to return to Rome asap.

If you find yourself in the Eternal City here is their shop info.

Rare (sadly) are the times I have a "WOW" moment when I see clothing these days. But I have to say, this guy's suit coat is one of them.

That stunning blue (with white pinstripes) against his black hair, dark eyes and black tie with a white shirt. WOW. Fantastic, great-looking without being "over the top" like so many styles.

This idea of a double breasted lapel on a single breasted jacket still doesn't work for me... trying too hard comes to mind.
Loving the cut-away collar on the shirt and the sharp tie - nice work.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:11 AM) :

There is a reason men should keep their hands out of their pockets.
Sweet face, but the look is nothing special. Except for the pocket square that is playfully, not square.

I never comment on your site, but hot damn!! he is damn good looking!

Blogger Jazzbuff630 said ... (11:47 PM) :

I had a suit like this in '77, but it was a navy pinstripe. I like the idea of a peak lapel on a single-breasted jacket, but only for certain really dressy occasions. This guy cuts quite the bella figura - kind of an Italian James Bond. The spread of the collar, and the width of the tie - looks like 3.75" - are perfectly proportioned with the lapels.

Blogger InStudio Blog said ... (12:07 PM) :

Oh!? There's a suit in this picture?

Anonymous INVINTAGEV said ... (5:51 AM) :

Blogger ann. said ... (11:58 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:19 PM) :

Dear Number Two: Your navy tie is melting my heart.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:11 PM) :

as usually too elegant...the really curious thing is that usually Gian Luca is more elegant than in this pic....who knows the sartoria ripense and bought a suit there....will never change anymore tailor and, above all, made-to-mesure shoes made by shoemakers Bocache & Salvucci.... it is without doubt the best tailor in Rome
