Really refreshing to see 'older' stylish women featured. I'm not quite there yet, but so nice to see that style needn't diminish with age. Speaking as a former Londoner, one must never underestimate the influence that Mrs Burstein has had on the British fashion landscape.

Anonymous Madge Mc said ... (7:39 PM) :

I adore everything about this woman: the beauty of aging gracefully, the tousled hair, her jewelry. Even the color of her lipstick -- accentuates the sweet smile. No hideous facelift for her. She's lovely.

Anonymous Emanuella said ... (7:53 PM) :

This picture hit me like a ton of bricks. We rarely see wrinkles in our day and age of chasing perfection-or at least society's view of perfection: the flawless, wrinkle-free woman.
It has always amazed me how men could age gracefully, with their salt and pepper hair, each strand representing a trial or tribulation in their lives, but the aging woman is seen as losing her luster.
The woman in this picture proves that youthfulness lies in a person's outlook, in their spirit, not in their exterior appearance. That sparkle in her eyes and her cheeky lipstick can outshine a woman with a perfect facelift any day of the week.
As a young twenty year old, I would like to thank you Scott for taking this picture and showing everyone that wrinkles are beautiful :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:54 PM) :

Yes!!! This woman is a classic beauty! Her ring is just sublime! Also, she should be an example to women all over who are thinking about botox/plastic surgery and plastic style! Bravo.

I am not an older woman, but I love the idea of alternative beauty.

Skinny tall and gorgeous is just too simple.

I would love to see more shots of alternative beauty.

With your influence who knows how you can shape our idea of what is to be appreciated!

What a cool thought. I would even love LOVE to see a book about alternative beauty, or a blog....you must have some really amazing shots.

I love the contradiction.

Thanks for sharing, I read you everyday, I live in Paris and somedays I muse wether you might find me during the day... :-)

This is why I will never, not in 100 million years succumb to plastic surgery...is losing all sense of expression, all the years of your life that become written on your face...is it worth looking only nominally younger and with a paralyzed face? Methinks not. She's beautiful...and you can tell she has spent most of her life smiling...just how I'd like to look at this age...

Blogger Daily Dada NYT Poems said ... (6:09 PM) :

WHAT A DAME! WHAT A BEAUT!
I am a lover of all things black and gold, her earrings and ring are just the perfect stand out accessories, and don't get me started on her corral lips and wavy locks. I wish she was my grand-mama...

Age appropriate elegance. Such a rare find these days - however Mrs Burstein never gets it wrong!

What I love about this picture is the timelessness it portrays. She seems to have had all the jewelery for ages!

Love this picture of a grand lady.... a lesson for the over-botoxed ones out there. Sorry.

this is stunning. i can only pray to be that elegant when i'm her age. this is what old people are supposed to look like. i can appreciate an image of someone who has aged gracefully without giving in to the temptation of nipping, tucking and botoxing. wouldn't you rather go out like this? i know i would :)

A portrait of aristocracy. And I love her near-red eyes. She looks at us but is nevertheless far aloof

I see all the wonderful comments regarding ageing gracefully, as nature intended. It takes guts and courage to walk away from chemicals and surgical instruments. Bravo to you for finding the beauty in experience and to wearing an interesting life on the face. I hope these images give everyone the strength to let life happen and live with gusto!
