Blogger blue roses said ... (8:05 AM) :

his mulberry scarf flair in the breast pocket completes this look for me. i love how simultaneously wild and dignified his beard, his eyes, are.

Love the cape maneuver and the rich colors in the pocket hanky and his true blue sportcoat (such fantastic felted texture--must be cashmere). He looks like a bearded Gregory Peck would have--had he lived until ten years beyond without aging another day.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:22 AM) :

I like how he put his cape back over his shoulder, like a jacket worn over the shoulders

Blogger Amy said ... (11:23 AM) :

Oh good lord!!!!! That is a gorgeous photo-- the shock of white, the intensity and obscuring of the eyes by his hat, the nose just hit by the light. It's like modern day Titian painting. Beautiful.

Very Chic Grandpa!.www.copperetiquette.wordpress.com

Blogger Katariina said ... (12:09 PM) :

Absolutely stunning. While his outfit is immaculate, it is the man wearing it that makes it so interesting.
I think he can pull off the beard; perhaps his strong facial features prevent the beard from being overpowering.
I wish I could have a cup of coffee and a long conversation with him.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:14 PM) :

great uncontrived stylish presence..in a way almost draconian in his seriousness

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:48 PM) :

Just a wonderful photograph because it triggers my curiosity: I want to know his name, what his occupation is, where he's going, and where he's been.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:53 PM) :

Did he see "Mr. Arkadin" too many times?

Blogger Sara said ... (1:37 PM) :

This man is utterly dashing. I want to know his story!

Anonymous Lauren said ... (1:58 PM) :

Absolutely fabulous! Love his style, but his facial expression is what makes this a truly great photo. It's the perfect counterpoint to the young woman below on via Luca Beltrami.

He lives in my neighborhood in Milan and has always worn a cape and a hat like that. This is a wonderful portrait of a very stylish and very individual gentleman. His wife/partner is very stylish too, often in turbans and beautiful Indian fabrics. I have never spoken to him but he's always impressed me. So glad to see him here!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:35 AM) :

Wow.... this is really amazing...
He looks like a person in the fellowship of the ring, the movie, 'The Lord of the Rings'.
