Lovely photo! Thanks!

Anonymous Elaine said ... (8:41 AM) :

Love the lighting in this photo, with the background fuzzy and the woman so sharp.

Blogger Al said ... (8:43 AM) :

Very interesting shot. Her pensive look is quite interesting. Her ensemble is perfect! Love the footwear too.

Blogger Oscar said ... (8:44 AM) :

There's NYC embodied...

Blogger caribbelle said ... (8:44 AM) :

goodness, I'm ready for summer. I love how comfortable she looks. Checkered vans seems to be a staple no?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:45 AM) :

Refreshing modest. I like that this is street style without any distinguishing brands or trends. It is mundane and mod at the same time.

Anonymous style guy said ... (8:45 AM) :

Love the shoes!

Anonymous salome said ... (8:46 AM) :

Sooooo cooooooooool ;)

Anonymous Augustin said ... (10:02 AM) :

nice picture, love her pose and the checkers !!

Anonymous Lucia said ... (10:10 AM) :

I love this picture. To anonymous 8.49, its interesting cos its a matter of style and self confidence! She looks truly wonderful, not being a "mega babe man eater" she is different from the main stream of dressing, Short hair is always a mark of strong confidence, going your own way, not caring about trends or be sexy showing a lot of skin, body, heels etc. I love it when young ( and older ) people dress in a way they the like, for themselves. Its about style, not fashion.
This is a great picture. One of my favorite. The secobd best is the one of a stunning woman in black dress, flat shoes and a lot of tattoos. Wish I could find it again :)

Blogger comme fraiche said ... (10:24 AM) :

She definitely looks like the skateboarder she is, athletic build and the right clothes to ride in

Blogger Kathleen said ... (10:33 AM) :

Blogger Jeanine said ... (10:45 AM) :

i love the top

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:06 AM) :

Why can someone design a stylish helmet for these ladies?

Anonymous James Taylor said ... (11:07 AM) :

Not wishing to correct you on matters of Newyorkology Scott, but this is clearly Fourth Avenue at 11th Street.

She looks like she's skateboarding home from yoga.

Blogger songbird said ... (11:10 AM) :

wow a skater girl!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:15 AM) :

Wonderful picture (as usual), but this look does nothing for me. I guess if you're going to ride a skateboard in the city, practical clothes trump elegance.

Anonymous Best of Beehive said ... (11:16 AM) :

This is how to do the punk trend. Her build suits the style too.

Blogger abataba said ... (11:20 AM) :

Perfect attitude!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:49 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:34 PM) :

nothing too interesting about her look for me

Blogger Peter said ... (12:40 PM) :

That's not Lafayette Street. That's 4th Ave.

Blogger Amy said ... (1:15 PM) :

Laid back and casual, yet completely collected. There is a lot to learn in the simplicity of her look.

Blogger Valkocompany said ... (1:17 PM) :

Cool !

Blogger TheStreetFashion5xpro said ... (1:27 PM) :

Very interesting shot...the road is the soul

Blogger Annette said ... (1:35 PM) :

Love that you feature diversity on your blog. New York is not all about designer brands and polished girls.

Love the Vans Checks. I remember a boy in the 3rd grade (25 years ago) who was the first to get them. All the other boys ran out and got them...trendsetter at age 8.

Blogger Mapiki said ... (4:32 PM) :

She looks like an actress, she is very expressive. Great picture, great moment.

Anonymous jdit said ... (4:33 PM) :

Oh man, skips on a board and tie-dye too! Could she be an Obie?
Kick - push - coast...
Cool baby, cool.

La Petite Marmoset

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:11 PM) :

Not that it matters, but this is actually 4th Avenue between 11th and 12th street.

Blogger Flora said ... (5:36 PM) :

Great photo!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:05 PM) :

That looks more like 4th Avenue than Lafayette... just sayin'.

Blogger Cory said ... (3:33 AM) :

appreciating the trends captured in this photo as well as the sense that her board and her tattoo are all the accessories she'd ever care to have.

Anonymous foxinthecity said ... (4:29 AM) :

I love the picture because she looks free - no hand bag, no keys or purse or cigarette!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:12 AM) :

Those exact Vans are what started my love affair with them many moons ago - my first ever pair. I've had so many different pairs/styles since that some people refer to me as "the guy with all the different Vans" Is this bad?

Anonymous Maryanne said ... (11:52 AM) :

1978-1981 look.
the ska look.
especially those vans..reminds me of the groups from the uk at that time..
